You Are A Political Neophyte And A Confused Man, Mimiko Tells Akeredolu
The Mimiko Campaign Organisation has referred to his main challenger in the forth coming gubernatorial election in Ondo State and Candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mr Rotimi Akeredolu as not only a confused man but a political neophyte.
This the organisation in Akure yesterday said is owing to the series of faux pas he had been making in his attempt to woo the Ondo State electorate.
Specifically, the MCO decried as laughable last week’s promise by Akeredolu that he would create a Ministry of Power if elected saying that it was not only ridiculous that a man who calls himself a lawyer
and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) could be playing to the gallery in an attempt to fool the people when he should know or ought to know that Power Ministry, Petroleum and others are on the exclusive list of the Federal Government.
A Statement by MCO’s Director of Publicity and Media Relations, Mr Kolawole Olabisi stated that this apparent goof was one in the series of cheap political propaganda by Akeredolu which has exposed the fact that he is a political greenhorn and immature for the position for which his godfathers want to foist on him.
“Only a few weeks ago, he promised to scrap all the projects done by Dr Olusegun Mimiko saying that they were all wasteful ventures which any in-coming government would not find profitable. He said he was going to do away with the free school shuttle buses for pupils and turn the vehicles into commercial ones; scarp the ultramodern neighbourhood markets, the Abiye health programmes, mechanic villages, Auto-mart amongst others saying they are drain on government coffers.
“Although Akeredolu had tried to do a volte-face when we cried out, he also said he was going to create 30,000 jobs in 100 days yet at the same time, he collects N1,000 each from the youths as form fees! It’s all a phantom job, a Greek gift said merely to hoodwink the hapless youth and flitch them of their stipends to fund his campaign activities.
“And pray, if we may ask, is the Ministry of Power on the concurrent list that both State and the Federal Government can do simultaneously?
And if so wont most State Governor have replicated this when one of the problems bedevilling the nation is power problem? So if Power Ministry is the exclusive preserve of the Federal Government, why would an aspirant for the position of Governor and one who himself a lawyer should now attempt to hoodwink the people if not a mere puff and a means of scoring cheap political points from the unwary?
“And isn’t it a sad commentary that a man who suddenly woke up from whatever induced dreams that he saw himself in a long convoy with blaring and decided to contest an election as Governor can now attempt to take all the politically savvy people of Ondo State on a fool’s ride?
“For a close watcher of unfolding events in Ondo State in the last couple of months, it is crystal clear that mischief is afoot by the ACN flag bearer. First, it is obvious that he never realised the enormity of the position for which he sought to contest and this is clear from the fact that up till the last moment, he couldn’t even perfect his nomination papers. And when it dawned on him that this was not a child’s play, he decided to play a fast one on the unsuspecting people of the State to raise funds for his campaign under veiled guise and now he wants to create a ministry which will only materialise in his dreams.
This shows that he is not ready and ill-prepared for the position but is being goaded on by his pipers”, Olabisi stated.
According to the MCO spokesperson, Akeredolu should embark on campaign of issues by going round the State to canvass for vote from the people and sell his Party’s manifestoes, if they have any, rather than making Governor Mimiko as his object of attacks saying that merely exposes the fact that they are never ready for serous campaigning owing to their dismay outing each time they venture to make half-hearted campaigns.
