Yobe SME To Introduce Self-Driven Package For Youths
The Yobe state Small and Medium Scale Credit Board has disclosed that it would introduce a self-driven programme package for youths “where they will be at the liberty to choose trade of their choice.
Its Executive Secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Aji Bukar, made the disclosure at the weekend in a chat with Blueprint.
According to him, each profession is to form a group to be able to access the board’s packages in order to improve its members’ economic well-being.
He stated in the past, the board was faced with challenges of loan recovery due to the methods used in issuing the loans without collateral; hence beneficiaries defaulted in the payments.
“We will hence forth engage our youths in a self driven programme by training them on the chosen trade and that should be done under the auspices of associations.
“Our major hiccups is paucity of funds, the state government has done well but looking at the daily increase in the number of youths, more funds are needed and once we are done with that we will swing into action,” Bukar said.
Bukar also urged the youths to compliment the efforts of the government by learning trade saying the state government is already overstretched.
He further promised that immediately funds are made available, the state’s SME will empower youths in agricultural activities, and among others.
