Yaya Toure Crowned African Footballer of the Year 2013
Nigeria’s hope of seeing Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi clinch the African Footballer of the year award 2013 was dashed Thursday evening as Cote d’Ivoire midfielder, Yaya Toure, was announced as the winner.
Yaya Toure was crowned the African player of the Year 2013, at the Glo/CAF Awards held on at the prestigious Eko Hotels in Lagos.
He defeated two other contenders, Nigeria’s Mikel Obi and Cote d’Ivoire Didier Drogba to clich the award.
It’s a third straight African Player of the Year title for Manchester City player, who also won December’s BBC African Footballer of the Year award.
Nigeria however got the shine of the day as it carted most of the awards in other categories t compensate for the loss of Mikel Obi.

African Player of the Year: Yaya Toure
Platinum Award goes to President Goodluck Jonathan
