We Won’t Force Obasanjo To Return To PDP – Adeyeye
The spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has said that the party respects former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s views and won’t force him to return to the party.
Adeyeye was reacting to a statement credited to Obasanjo, saying he will never return to the party after hosting the party’s Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, behind closed doors at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, on Tuesday.
“I have told the chairman that I was in the PDP before but not now. God forbid, se when dog vomits, it will go back to eat its vomit, no,” Obasanjo said.
However, in his response, Adeyeye stated that Obasanjo has the right to hold his opinion. But stressed that the PDP will not die, either he joins or not.
“He has said it before (that he won’t return to the party). We are not going to force him. No individual is bigger than the party.
“We respect his opinion. There’s nothing to say more than that. He is an individual and we respect him.”
