Bafarawa, Shekarau, Marwa Debunkes Report of Move to Join PDP, Says APC is our Parent

Reports making the rounds that political heavy weight in Adamawa, Kano and Sokoto States may soon defect from the All Progressives Congress, APC to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP following the failure of the leadership of the APC to resolve the difference between them and the defected governors in their state have been debunked by the parties involved.

Former Sokoto State governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau and former military Administrator of Lagos State, General Buba Marwa has been at loggerheads with the PDP governors who recently decamped to the APC.

The defected governors having problems with some big wigs in their states are Aliyu Wamako of Sokoto State, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and Murtala Nyako of Adamwa state.

The media had reported that the trio has been reached discreetly and openly by lobbyists of the PDP and may son defect to the party.
However, at a meeting held Tuesday night at the former secretariat of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, located in zone 6, Abuja, the trio categorically told those who attended the meeting that they are not leaving the APC to any party, let alone PDP as reported.

The meeting held under the auspices of Northern Caucus of the APC and chaired by a chieftain of the APC, Chief Audu Ogbeh was to find a way out of the difference between aggrieved members and the defected governors.

A source who was privy to the meeting told Abusidiqu.com that Mr. Bafarawa openly declared that he is not going to the PDP.

“This is not the time to join PDP. If I want to join PDP, I would have done so since the time I left ACN to DPP. So it’s not true that am going to join PDP,” Barafwa said.

Adding that the same allegation were made against him before he left the ACN, Bafarwa said they are like people who have lost their parents by given up the individual parties they belonged to for the birth of APC, so it is not possible for them to give it up and join the PDP.

On their part, Mr. Shekarau and Gen. Marwa reportedly told the gathering that their interest is to work for the good of the party and expect the defected governors in their state to carry them along.

In attendance at the meeting are the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, Senator Kabiru Gaya, Senator George Akume, Dr Usman Bugaje,

Others are Hajiya Hannatu Musawa, AC women leader from Gombe State, Hajiya Amina Mohammed, Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed amongst others
Some APC youths were also represented at the meeting.
