Wake Up The Sleeping Giant Called Nigeria By Babz Animashahun
All thanks to the Lord of the World, Creator of the Universe, Kings of Kings, Abasi, Ubangiji, Odogwu, Chineke, the creator and bestower of Knowledge for without Him there wouldn’t be what we call Us.
We must not forget to appreciate those who introduced Western education to our dear Native Land, for without them we wouldn’t even be where we are even though this isn’t where we ought to be. Government at all levels in Nigeria have tried in the educational sector but it just seems little isn’t enough for a population like Ours, it hurts to see my own beloved nation still seeking admission into tertiary institutions abroad in the 21st Century, the Schools we yearn to attend overseas weren’t there from Creation,it took the effort of learned Men and Women of Integrity with the support of a Sincere government to achieve this feat bearing in Mind that the future of a country lies in its education sector and not just the resources it could boast of.
These days it is not surprising how we lose the few intellectuals we have to our neighbouring West African Countries, it all boils down to a corrupt government and they in turn woo our citizens to study in their own country for a Bachelors, Masters, Ph’d to mention but few. The question now is Should we still call ourselves the Giant of Africa or the Crawling Ant, it is left for us to decide our fate come 2015.
It would be a thing of joy if the round pegs are put into a round hole in our Education Sector, the government shouldn’t continue to feign Ignorance about the strike in our Polytechnics and Colleges of education which have been on strike for months now and later address us as HALF-BAKED GRADUATES.
The supervising Minister of Education should know our ambition is more important than his own political Aspirations, Government at all levels must realise that the little it has done over the years needs more to it, since the reward for hardwork is more work.
For Education will always remain the Best Legacy So Far!!!!!!
God Bless Nigeria…
