VIDEO: Hoodlums, Not Herdsmen Attacked Enugu Communities – Police Commissioner
Contrary to widely circulated reports, the Enugu State Commissioner of police, Nwodibo Ekechukwu has said that the attack on some communities in Uzo-Uwani Local Govt Area of the State was carried out by hoodlums and not fulani herdsmen.
Report broke on Monday that scores of Fulani herdsmen invaded several communities in the Local Government killing at least 40 persons and destroyed several properties including cars and houses.
But speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday, Ekechukwu said hoodlums carried out the attacks, killing six farmers who were on their way to the farm.
He said they were repelled by soldiers and policemen, preventing them from entering the town after they had killed the farmers.
The position of the Police Commissioner was further reiterated in a press release by the Ebugu State command of the Nigerian Police o Wednesday.
