A convoy of the Nigerian Military was this morning attacked by unknown gunmen at the Itakpe axis of the Lokoja-Okene road killing at least two of the soldiers.
The convoy of the military troops which were reportedly moving to Kaduna from the South ran into an ambush of improvised explosive devices planted by the gunmen apparently on the information that there will be a movement of the troops on the route.
An eye witness says the explosive device went off as soon as the soldiers got to the scene where the device was planted.
The Kogi state command of the Nigerian police while confirming the incident said an investigation is on, to unravel those behind the attack.
