University of Lagos Tops List of Best Universities in Nigeria, 16th in Africa
The university of Lagos has topped the lists of Best Universities in Nigeria and 16 in Africa coming behind University of Nairobi and University of Ghana, both of which took the 14th and 15th positions respectively.. This rating emerged in a recent ranking of the top 100 universities in Africa, by 4icu.org in its 2012 World University Web Ranking: Top 100 Universities and Colleges in Africa.
To emerge the Best University in Nigeria, University of Lagos beat 8 others namely University of Ilorin and University of Ibadan which ranked 39 and 40 in Africa respectively. Others are Obafemi AwolowoUniversity(42), University of Benin (45), University of Port-Harcourt(52), University of Agriculture, Abeokuta(64), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (84) and The University of Jos (88).
in Africa, The University of Cape Town, South Africa was the first on the list, followed closely by University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and the University of Pretoria, also in South Africa. As a matter of fact, the first six Universities on the list were South African Universities, with Cairo University, Egypt coming seventh.
