Tony Anenih Emerges Chairman of PDP Board of Trustees
Former Minister of works and Chairman of the Board of Nigeria Ports Authority NPA, Chief Tony Anenih was on the early hours today (Tuesday) elected as the Board of Trustees Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a position which he occupied until 2007.
Chief Anenih, 73, was elected after a meeting of the board, which began at about 8.45pm, Monday night and ended at about 12.45am Tuesday morning.
Secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees, Alhaji Walid Jubrin disclosed to news men that Chief Anenih was elected by consensus following a long drawn meeting of all the members of the board presided by President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential villa.
Briefing the state house correspondents after his election, Chief Anenih said that he had been chairman of the BoT for two years before and has all it takes to move the party to greater heights.
He added that he is not in doubt of his ability to make meaningful contribution to the growth of the party.
“I was elected today by consensus as the chairman of the BoT. I know I can make meaningful contributions to the progress of the party. As you know, the BOT is the conscience of the party. It’s a body of men and women who have seen it all and I am happy to be the chairman of that board.”
