The PMB Effect, By Habib Hotoro
The United Nations (UN), in the past week celebrated its 70th anniversary of existence and job of pacifying and uniting nations. During which I observed the way President Barack Obama accorded respect and awe towards President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria at the UN General Assembly meeting. The admiration was palpable that even the camera could not resist but, capture. I must say, it was unusual, but not surprising.
It became clear then that President Obama, holds Nigeria in high esteem and greatly admires PMB. Then I began to ask myself, why President Obama would have such reverence for PMB. Then, with pride, I thought to myself, Nigeria has regained her lost glory! Besides, President Obama’s African heritage is not in any way connected to Daura talk less of Nigeria. I came to the following conclusion after a mini research on President Obama
- President Obama admires PMB because he sees a resilient, and true converted democrat. PMB has participated in 3 different presidential elections and lost after a series of massive rigging. He finally emerged victorious in his fourth try in the 2015 presidential elections. I’m sure President Obama sees PMB like the Abraham Lincoln of African Democracy.
- PMB’s track record— of fighting corruption, leadership competence and transparency—is unparalleled to any Nigerian, or Africa leader for that matter. This has made him standout globally and also attracted the veneration of the almighty US—President Obama—and other world super powers. And any progressive world leader that takes a look at his records will ultimately fall for PMB. I’m sure President Obama is thinking to himself how lucky Nigeria is.
- I have to say, PMB exhumes an air that commands utter respect. And, I sincerely believe that President Obama was taken by the charisma, aura and composure of PMB. The way he dressed exemplifies a true African leader, worthy of emulation.
President Obama shares similar ideologies with PMB, and with less than a year to the end of his tenure, I’m sure He is just as excited to work with PMB like Nigerians are for the future of our dear country. PMB will get an unconditional support from the US to make Nigeria great.
The speech he gave at the general assembly was eloquent and straight to the point. My grandma used to tell me that “honesty is the best policy” and that is what PMB is all about. He commands respect wherever he goes and that invariably reflects on Nigeria. From the honourable welcome He got on his first Presidential visit to Cameroon, I would proudly say, I’ve never seen a person more suited to be President and leader of Africa’s largest nation than PMB.
I have never been so proud to be Nigerian!?
Long live President Muhammadu Buhari!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
