Tambuwal Set to Declare for APC to Avoid Suspension By PDP NEC
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal, our check indicates, is set to declare for the APC.
The move by the speaker is to forestall the plan by the National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to suspend him for anti-party activities.
The speaker is said to be apprehensive of his party’s plan to pull the rug off his feet, and as such is making frantic effort to escape the hammer of the PDP by finalising his plan to dump the party ahead of the suspension.
The PDP NEC barring any last minute change of mind, may tomorrow suspend the speaker at its 63rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to hold tomorrow at its National Headquarters in Abuja.
A dependable source at the party headquarters yesterday revealed that Tambawul is facing an allegation of engaging in anti-party activities as his party has frowned at his continued romance with the main opposition, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his refusal to attend the previous NEC meeting and PDP zonal rallies.
Hon Tambuwal who represents Tambuwal federal constituency in the House of Representatives is among the members tagged rebels by the PDP leadership.
The speaker, according to our source, was also accused of shunning Sokoto PDP rally and the North West zonal rally held in Kaduna, where President Goodluck Jonathan was endorsed for a second term by the zone.
But when contacted, the national publicity secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metu denied any move by the party to suspend the speaker, noting that such issue is not on the agenda of the NEC.
He maintained that such story is in the realm of speculation.
