Those Who Stole Nigeria Dry Are Very Powerful… They Own Newspapers, Radio And TV Stations – Minister

The federal government says it is aware that those who mismanaged the wealth of the country have been using their influence to frustrate its anti-corruption campaign.

Speaking in Lagos on Sunday, Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, said the current administration would not be discouraged by the ploy of its opponents.

Describing as an incentive, the commendation which John Kerry, US secretary of state, gave to President Muhammadu Buhari on his anti-graft fight, Mohammed said the battle must be won for the nation to achieve sustainable growth.

At a speech delivered during the just-concluded World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Kerry lauded the current administration.

Mohammed said he would soon kick-start a series of town hall meetings across the country to take the sensitisation campaign, which he launched in Abuja last Monday, directly to Nigerians.

”The federal government is delighted that the anti-corruption war being led by President Muhammadu Buhari has been acknowledged and applauded on a global stage,” he said.

”It is particularly gratifying that in that speech, Mr Kerry made the link between corruption and terrorism.

We agree that corruption is indeed a radicaliser because it destroys faith in legitimate authority.

“Let me remind you, gentlemen, that radicalisation is a key causative factor of terrorism… ‘We know that those who stole us dry are powerful.

They have newspapers, radio and television stations and an army of supporters to continuously deride the government’s war against corruption.

“But we are undaunted and will not relent until corruption is also decimated.” Mohammed said corruption was responsible for the endemic poverty in the country, noting that whereas Nigeria’s national budget has increased from just over N900 billion in 1999 to over N6 trillion in 2016, poverty has also increased almost by the same proportion.

“The reason is not far-fetched: Appropriated funds have mostly ended up in the pockets of a few looters,” he said.

”When the money meant to construct roads is looted, the end result is that the roads are not built and the people suffer and even die in avoidable road accidents. When the money meant to provide electricity is looted, we all are perpetually sentenced to darkness. When the money meant for healthcare is pocketed by a few, we are unable to reduce maternal and infant mortality. These are the costs of corruption.”

He faulted the view that the government was dwelling too much on the war against corruption to the detriment of other areas of governance.

“The situation is very grim indeed, as far as corruption is concerned. That is why the federal government is embarking on this sensitisation Campaign,” he said.

“Our approach – which is to count the cost of corruption – is not to vilify anyone but to use facts and figures to give Nigerians a sense of what corruption has done to their lives.”

Text Of Statement By Radio Biafra Director Nnamdi Kanu Where He Apologised To Buhari, Others

“I unreservedly apologize [for my Buhari remarks] and will be doing so in a private letter to the President.”

Those where the words of ?the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu in a statement he made while in the custody of the Department of State Security Services (DSS).

The hand written statement which was obtained exclusively and published by SaharaReporters is reproduced below:

I can confirm that I, Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide is a legally registered and duly recognized body at the United Nations pursuing the rights of a specific indigenous people, in this case Biafra, to seek self-determination according to the said charter the reason for the formation of the Indigenous People of Biafra is to avail those referring to themselves as Biafrans the opportunity made available as a result of the United Nations Declaration to seek the peaceful re-Birth of Biafra in line with international laws, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices, and economic repression.

Opportunities no longer existed for the majority of the people, and especially young graduates to find meaningful employment in the job market, general hardship, brutal repression of civil and human rights coupled with system that shuns inward investment contributed to the thinking behind the formation of IPOB.

The People of Biafra all over the world have particular emphasis on those residing in the diaspora it is not advised that those in Nigeria contribute. No contribution is accepted from those in political office or from organizations only individuals belonging to those organizations may choose to contribute if they wish to the volunteer force. IPOB is a group of people who may wish to group themselves together for the purpose of Evangelism or going out to the streets to distribute leaflets and preach the message of lawful existence of Biafra as stipulated in the UN Charter.

There is no armed conflict agitating and any reference to such is purely designed to stop the Nigerian Armed Forces ostensibly the police from coming out and killing innocent people.

IPOB volunteers are modeled on exactly the same tenet as the world renowned Salvation Army Front. Its ambitions are army but it does not carry any weapons. The same thing applies to the volunteers of IPOB. There is no arms training involved. I am the Director of Radio Biafra and solely responsible for the output the (genre?) of Radio Biafra is strictly to capture attention and imagination and not designed to incite anyone to violence.

For very many years the Nigerian state and Nigerians in general have continued to witness poor economic management, fraud, corruption, and mismanagement of every sector of the economy. Therefore, as Radio Biafra programs were designed to wake up the public from their slumber and address the issues of the time, which is youth unemployment, lack of infrastructural provisions, poor electricity, an absence of rural development, and conspicuous absence of respect for human rights.

The area as envisaged as Biafra are predominantly South-East and South-South territories having cultural, linguistic, traditional, and commonality in value system. Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil, and Paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that I unreservedly apologize and will be doing so in a private letter to the President. Before PMP there was the administration of Goodluck Jonathan I also said some uncomplimentary things about him and Igbo elders as well, which I now recognize should have happened because it is un-African to be rude or insolent to elders. All I was trying to do is draw attention to the problems afflicting society and what society is doing about it.

The areas intended for the Biafran being espoused by Indigenous People of Biafra are Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Anambra, Bayelsa Delta, Edo (but only Igbamke), Kogi (only Igala), and Imo States. The mission statement of Radio Biafra is dedicated to the defences of the rights of the indigenous people of Biafra and ultimately the restoration of the REpublic of Biafra in line with United Nations Declarations on the Rights of Indigenous People

Radio Biafra Transmitters Installed On MTN Masts —FG

The Federal Government has said the transmitters for Radio Biafra, which has been accused of spreading secessionist agenda and campaigning for the carving out of a Biafra Republic from Nigeria, were found to be installed on MTN masts in Enugu and Anambra states.

According to the Federal Government, the installation of the transmitters on the telecommunications company’s masts was to ensure wider coverage for the radio.

The headquarters of the radio station is “presumably in London.”

This is contained in the government’s case summary of the fresh six counts of treason and other ancillary offences instituted against the founder of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and two others, before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

One of the two other defendants in the six counts filed by the Federal Government is a field maintenance engineer, David Nwawuisi, charged with the responsibility of maintaining the MTN masts in Enugu State.

The other defendant, Benjamin Madubugwu, was said to be living in Ubilisiuzo, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, where he allegedly received custody of a container housing transmitters from Kanu.

On December 23, during the accused persons’ appearance in court for their scheduled arraignment, Kanu refused to take his plea due to what he called his lack of confidence in the presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed.

The judge promptly returned the case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, for reassignment to another judge and the three accused persons were returned to the custody of the Department of State Services.

The fresh charges were filed against the three men barely 24 hours after Justice Adeniyi Ademola, in a ruling on Kanu’s bail application on December 17, ordered his unconditional release from DSS custody, having been detained for about two months without any valid charges filed against him.

The Federal Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Mohammed Diri, who signed the fresh charges, the case summary and other processes accompanying them on behalf of the government, alleged that Nwawuisi installed the transmitters on MTN masts “on request by an IPOB member, Chidibere Onwudiwe.”

Diri added, “The 3rd defendant (Nwawuisi), a Field Maintenance Engineer, charged with the responsibility of maintaining MTN masts in Enugu State, was also arrested in the course of the investigation.

“He agreed, on the request of an IPOB member, who is at large, Chidebere Onwudiwe, to install and did install IPOB radio transmitters on MTN masts for a consideration.”

The prosecution alleged that the transmitters were smuggled into Nigeria by Kanu and were discovered during a search in Madubugwu’s residence.

While Kanu was accused of treasonable felony, management of an unlawful society (IPOB), and smuggling of goods, including radio transmitters, into the country, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi were accused of assisting in the management of the said unlawful group.

The prosecution alleged, in the six counts, that the transmitters were installed on the MTN masts between April and May 2015.

The sixth count read, “That you, David Nwawuisi, at Enugu and Anambra states, between April and May 2015 assisted in the management of an illegal society by doing an act to wit: you permitted one Chidiebere Onwudiwe, now at large, to install Radio Biafra transmitters with knowledge that the said transmitters were property of the Indigenous People of Biafra, an unlawful society, with the intention to propagate its secession intention and that you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 6 of the Criminal Code Act, CAP C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.”

Kanu was said to have on many occasions broadcast on the radio, which is said to have as its Mission Statement, ‘The defence of the rights of the Indigenous People of Biafra; and ultimately the actualisation of the Republic of Biafra’, reiterating that “Biafra must be realised.”

The case summary reads, “In one of such broadcasts on August 1, 2015, he called on members of IPOB in the Diaspora to identify children of Nigerian dignitaries, their residences and schools, with a view to taking reprisal action against them in the event of attacks against Biafrans by Nigerian security agents.”

The Federal Government said the proponents of the Republic of Biafra proposed that the republic would consist of “states in the South-East and South-South regions except that in the case of Edo State, only the Igbanke community will be part of the Republic of Biafra as well as the Igalas in Kogi State and the Idomas in Benue State.”

No new date has been fixed for the arraignment of the accused persons.

How We Arrested Radio Biafra Director Nnamdi Kanu – DSS Gives Details

The Department of State Services (DSS) has given details of how its men apprehended the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

The DSS said but for the tenacity of its men, Kanu, who lodged in a Lagos hotel under a fictitious name, would have escaped arrest.

It explained how arms and ammunition were recovered at the Ubulusiuzor, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State home of one of Kanu’s associates, Benjamin Madubugwu.

The information was contained in some documents filed with a fresh six-count charge against Kanu, Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.

A DSS operative, Temisan John, who led the team that arrested Kanu on October 14, said Kanu was apprehended in the company of a woman at the Golden Tulip Essential Lagos Airport Hotel located at 42/44, Murtala Mohammed International Aiprot Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

“On arrival at the hotel, the staff denied having Kanu there or having any knowledge of him, even when showed his photograph. The guest manifest, for about five days, was also printed and the name was not found on any.

“However, relying on accurate intelligence, the team decided to conduct a physical search on all the rooms and Kanu was arrested in Room 303 while hibernating with a young girl, Maryam Ibezimakor, with all his broadcasting and communication gadgets set for use.

“It was then discovered that Kanu checked in under the name Nwanekaenyi Ezebuiro. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the command headquarters.”

Another DSS operative, Mohammed Ahmed, who led the search of Madubugwu’s house, said items recovered in the house included “two pump-action guns loaded with ammunition, one Emerald pump-action gun with serial number: TS870-113-0046 and one Delta Magnum pump-action gun with serial number 501.”

Kanu, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi (identified as a Field Maintenance Engineer with MTN Nigeria), were to be arraigned on December 23, but Kanu stalled the proceedings when he told the trial judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, that he doubted his ability to give a fair trial.

This prompted Justice Mohammed to withdraw from the case and direct that the case file be returned to the court’s Chief Judge for reassignment to another judge.

AUDIO: Radio Biafra Admits Vandalism In Onitsha On Air

On their midnight of December 1st 2015 broadcast, Radio Biafra IPOB members admitted to vandalism, breaking car windows and side mirrors in reaction to Nigerian police shooting to disperse them from the Onitsha bridge they had blocked.

The Radio Biafra member speaking in this video said that after they blocked the bridge and told the police that they would not let cars pass unless the police release the station director, Nwannekaenyi Okwu-Kanu, aka Nnamdi Kanu who has been locked up since October 14th on criminal and terror charges. The police thus shot in the air to disperse them; this annoyed the Radio Biafrans who ran on a vandalism spree as the recording describes.

The spree continued through the day of December 2nd as they burned 6 Dangote loaded trucks and also the central Mosque and were reported to also have shot and killed a Hausa Suya seller.

Nigerians have promised to protect Easterners and their property across the nation despite mischievous and miscreant provocation, with the prime northern front, Arewa youth forum promising to protect their “Eastern” brothers and sisters and their assets in the north.

Importantly, reliable inside sources informed us that certain suspects among the agitators have plotted to intentionally burn Igbo homes and assets in the north of the nation to try to instigate chaos and an exodus. A recording of an Nnamdi Kanu broadcast we made from the station in the past revealed such mischievous concepts. Nigeria’s security services have since been informed.

IPOB Founder, Eze Ozobu Denounces Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu; As Igbo Mandate Congress Seeks Release of Protesters

The presumed founder of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Retired  Justice Eze Ozobu has denounced the hate speeches and incitement to aggression as being portrayed by persons under the guise of Radio Biafra.

Speaking with the Rev Obinna Aklukwe, Director General of  Igbo Mandate Congress (IMC)  who sought his views as part of the group’s ongoing  consultations with Igbo leaders on how to put an end to hate speeches characterizing the new face of Radio Biafra, Justice Eze Ozobu said that he doesn’t even know the person called Nnamdi Kanu.

According to the respected Octogenarian, ‘ I do not know anybody called Nnamdi Kanu. You said  that his name is what? how does he look like? I have never asked anybody to use violence or incitement to achieve any means. “

Justice Eze Ozobu told Rev Akukwe that  “for two years now I have not had audience with anybody over any matter political  including  IPOB, Radio Biafra or any other group, neither do I listen to Radio Biafra.”  He threatened to take legal actions against anybody who associates him with any hate speech, aggression and unruly activities in any ramifications.

The wife of Justice Eze Ozobu,, a retired permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs also lashed out at those associating her husband with hate speeches as name droppers.

Osodieme Chief Mrs Eze Ozobu told Rev Akukwe that  ” IPOB, Radio Biafra or whosoever have not seen my husband for over two years, therefore nobody can claim that he sent them on any mission. They are dropping his name without consulting him”  Describing her husband as a man of principle and peace ,she  sued for peace among the Igbos and advised the aggrieved to do so within the ambit of truth, justice and rule of law.

IPOB had claimed that His Royal Majesty, Retired Justice Eze Ozobu (OFR) was their founder with the designation of   Chairman Governing Council  of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra with Dr Dozie Ikedife as the Secretary.

Justice Eze Ozobu was the Chief Judge of Enugu State for many years. It is on record that his tenure as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo was the most transparent. He is a foremost respectable Igbo Jurist whose incorruptible stature is likened to that of his friend, late  Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.

Igbo Mandate Congress has condemned the hate speeches associated with Radio Biafra. This was part of the resolutions of the  emergency meeting held  in Enugu to evaluate the implication of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) successful protest march in Onitsha, Asaba, Owerri and Yenegoa on Friday. The group described the hate speeches as contrary to the spirit of Biafra.

Rev Akukwe explained that” abusing the Hausa, the Fulani, and the Yoruba in the course of pursuing Biafra is anti-Christian. Christianity cannot support the dissemination of hate messages against fellow living beings created by God, and nobody chose which tribe to come from. It is God that created all. Anybody or group that wants Biafra should pursue it within the ambit of reasonable processes and international conventions”

Clarifying further, Akukwe said that “since 1999 Igbos have occupied positions of Senate Presidency, Deputy Senate Presidency, Party Chairmanship, Secretary to the Government of Nigeria, and yet the all important Enugu-Onitsha Highway, Enugu-Nsukka  Highway from Opi to 9th Mile and Enugu-Port-Harcourt Highway from the Okigwe end   are the worst roads in Nigeria due to their selfish representations at the center. While other regions are being developed, South East politicians embezzled their lot and they are now using a people’s aspiration to cover up for crime.

“These political bandits failed to ensure that these roads were repaired from the Obasanjo through to the Jonathan regime, preferring to pursue contracts and appointments. We should blame our corrupt Igbo leadership first for our woes and make them to account for years of selfish superintendent over our destinies before blaming outside accomplices.”

Rev Akukwe averred further that “The Federal Government should  release Nnamdi Kanu, and all IPOB protesters with immediate effect. Ben Onwuka of Biafra Zionist Movement and his members languishing in Enugu Prisons and all MASSOB members in detention should be granted amnesty and sent home  because many of them are victims of corrupt governance at the center fueled by corrupt and  incompetent political representations from the South East.”

The Abia State Coordinator of IIgbo Mandate Congress and founding Secretary General of Ohanaeze Youths Council , Comrade Chuks Ibegbu in his submissions said that “we must be careful with these protests in order not to be used by selfish elements because there is not much difference between these agitations and the money making sentiments used by MASSOB leader Uwazurike over the years. Our people must be careful not to be dragged into another conflict driven by self interests.Security agencies should release the misguided elements that joined the protests due to bandwagon effects.”

Ohanaeze Ndigbo had also cautioned on the activities of IPOB. The Assistant National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Co-ordinator of Igbo Ohanaeze Integrity Groups, Barrister Emejulu Okpalaukwu has said that those sponsoring the agitations are Igbo politicians afraid of EFCC prosecution. Ohanaeze Spokesman told Igbo Mandate Congress members that ”  evil minded politicians afraid of prosecution are sponsoring aspects of IPOB protest march. These people should be cautioned before it is too late. Arrested protesters should be counseled and sent home and the use of force should be discouraged”

Radio Biafra, Pdp’s Weapon Of Warfare Against Nigeria By Lauretta Onochie

It has now become clear that PDP has a hand in the recent pockets of disturbances in the South East. Oliseh Metuh’s boys gave it away.

Metuh’s boys were the same ones who constituted the cash gobbling PDP Youth wing, coordinated by Ifeanyi Uba and renamed Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN. Billions of Naira were squandered in a fruitless audacious bid to keep a government that had no respect for Nigerians, their laws nor their constitution.

The same TAN is now being rebranded PDP Youth Wing! Only now, it has diversified. It has a Radio Biafra Wing! It obvious that they are up to no good. A radio Biafra that was in bed with the Jonathan administration that nailed our economy to the ground is now protesting the state of our economy! Or should I say, protesting Buhari’s administration severance of their freebies which they got regularly from the seat of government under President Jonathan.

“Why is Nnamdi Kanu still under lock and key?” He was arrested as he sneaked into Nigeria as his custom was. Without wasting any time, as was the custom under PDP, he was taken to court and charged immediately. To our horror, but in accordance with rules guiding our legal system, he was also granted bail.

Although the bail fee was reportedly fixed at N2 million, Kanu was yet to meet the bail conditions, which included getting a civil servant on grade 16 to be his surety.

Why have these 10-30 year old youngsters not found a level 16 officer to bail their director or is this their Feeble attempt at “making the nation ungovernable for the well loved, performing and popular President Buhari?

Well, these misguided, brainwashed PDP youths have failed woefully. For starters, they do not have the backing of Ndigbo who are Nigerians.

“After listening to that contraption he calls RBL and the way he bulldozes people he doesn’t even know and having realized that the dude is just a randy noise maker on air, I stopped paying any attention. It is a pity that an uncultured person like him with no etiquette of communication is the one herding a bunch of sheep like him to the slaughter house. This whole Biafra thing has become a joke championed by wannabees who can’t even stand the test of a rebellion when it comes.” – Obinna Njaka

Another Well respected Igbo son, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe has this to say:
“At age 15yrs I left home to join the Biafran Fighting Forces. The reasons that compelled me then does not exist any more. Younger generations today are out of reality with current  Nigerian political dynamics. Fraud and emotional shallowness has taken over the center stage. We shall resist these shenanigans and work for the Nigeria of our political father’s such as Zik of Africa.”

Governor Rochas Okorocha has condemned the current Biafra, asserting that Ndigbo are Nigerians. He went further to point accusing fingers on some South East governors whom he alleged are sponsoring the miscreants.

Even Chief Ibori rightly spoke from Her Majesty’s confinement in far away UK. Biafra has no connection with Delta State, not even with the Anioma people in Delta state. Nigerians across the globe are outraged. The United Kingdom and the rest of the world have given their support to us as a nation. We all need to pull together to crush this threat to our national peace.

Those being scammed by Nnamdi Kanu are young, mostly with no formal education but wealthy traders who are quite gullible. The truth is that the agitation for the nation of Biafra is totally different from Kanu’s agitation. This can be seen in the fact that Kanu is also at war with Uwazurike’s Movement for the Actualisation of the State Of Biafra MASOB. Radio Biafra is a money-Spinning venture for Kanu. But whichever angle the miscreants come from, Radio Biafra or MASOB, on one Nigeria we stand. Full stop.

We are therefore, calling on the government of Pres. Buhari to nip this pimple in the bud. No stone should be spared to crush these PDP agents. We cannot afford another Boko Haram which was left to fester by the inept and incompetent PDP administration of Jonathan.

Peaceful protests are normal in a democratic nation such as ours but protests that constitute threats to the territorial integrity, unity and safety of Nigerians must be halted at its infancy and the federal might must be galvanised to crush it.

This is Nigeria. Ndigbo are Nigerians. They are happy to be Nigerians. They are at home across Nigeria. We must not allow these misguided and brainwashed few to disturb the peace of the nation. We must therefore, crush this pimple before it becomes a tumour.

Igbo Mandate Congress Condemns Radio Biafra Hate Speeches, Demands Release of IPOB Protesters

Igbo Mandate Congress has condemned the hate speeches against other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria which characterized the new face of Radio Biafra. Speaking with co-coordinators of the group at an emergency meeting in Enugu to evaluate the implication of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) successful protest march in Onitsha, Asaba, Owerri and Yenegoa on Friday, the Director General of Igbo Mandate Congress, Rev Obinna Akukwe, described the hate speeches as contrary to the spirit of Biafra.

According to Rev Akukwe” abusing the Hausa, the Fulani, and the Yoruba in the course of pursuing Biafra is anti-Christian. Christianity cannot support the dissemination of hate messages against fellow living beings created by God,and Igbos are predominantly Christians, rather anybody or group that wants Biafra should pursue it within the ambits of reasonable processes and international conventions.”

Rev Akukwe described the protesters as people who have been deceived into solely blaming the Nigerian project for the insensitivity of South East Leaders. Clarifying further, he said that “since 1999 Igbos have occupied positions of Senate Presidency, Deputy Senate Presidency, Party Chairmanship, Secretary to the Government of Nigeria, and yet the al important Enugu-Onitsha Highway, Enugu-Nsukka  Highway from Opi to 9th Mile and Enugu-Port-Harcourt Highway from the Okigwe end   are the worst roads in Nigeria due to their selfish representations at the center.

“These political bandits failed to ensure that these roads were repaired from the Obasanjo through to the Jonathan regime, preferring to pursue contracts and appointments. We should blame our corrupt Igb0 leadership first for our woes and make them to account for years of selfish superintendent over our destinies before blaming outside accomplices.”

He called upon the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanui and all arrested protesters and prepare them for proper reorientation and reintegration.

Igbo Mandate Congress directed its directors and coordinators to embark on publicity enlightenment within their  states, zones and councils  using determined channels to ensure that hate speeches that alienates the Igbo from their neighbors is discouraged.

Leaders and members of Igbo Mandate Congress who monitored the protests in various centers, noted that the protests drew many sympathizers who though did not participate in the rallies, expressed optimism over a successful for Biafran dream .

The group received reports  that failed corrupt politicians in Igboland are sponsoring the crisis to avoid their acts of economic enslavement of the South East from  being exposed. and vowed to expose them at the appropriate time.

The group also noted that lots of people who joined the protests were not acting because they hated Nigeria and urgently wanted Biafra, rather because the harsh economic realities of the present day nation occasioned by years of corrupt leaderships have left them with no alternatives. The group resolved to put up pressures to ensure the release and reorientation of the misguided protesters.
