Imo Police Command Arrests Suspected Killers Of APC Chieftain

The Geoffrey Victor-led Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Imo has arrested the suspected killers of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Amos Akano.

The deceased was reportedly abducted on his way home after a meeting of the party in Owerri, the capital, only to be found dead by the roadside a couple of days later.

The suspects were apprehended while waiting to collect ransom from the late politician’s relations.The Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galandanchi, who confirmed the arrest, added that the suspects were held in Ihiala, Anambra State.He named those arrested as Ikenna Nwosu (aka Ezego); Chibuike Martins; Emeka Eke; Chijioke Akukara among others.

Gombe Police Command Trains 23 DPOs In Community Policing

The Gombe State Police Command is holding a four-day Basic Community Policing Skills Workshop for 23 Divisional Police Officers, DPOs.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Iwar, said at the opening of the workshop at the State Command Headquarters, that, if the Police in Gombe were to efficiently and effectively protect the lives and properties of the citizens, it must work in partnership with all stakeholders.

“The State Police Command has decided to re-invigorate the police partnership approach to policing, with the commencement of this training, in line with the policy directives of the inspector-General of Police Ibrahim K Idris, whose administration is people centred policing style as the cardinal focus.

The essence of this workshop is to refresh officers’ competence in basic policing skills, predicated on practical Police Community Partnership Approach to policing components, for improved service delivery in line with the community safety and crime prevention strategy of the Gombe State Police Command”, Mr. Iwar explained.
