How PDP’S Agent Who Traveled To Cambridge To Verify Buhari’s Certificate Were Disappointed

As the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal kicked off few months ago, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sent a team of lawyers and other party agents to the University of Cambridge to confirm the authenticity of the West African School Certificate (WASC) of President Muhammadu Buhari.

A Cambridge source said that the opposition party did not only send a delegation but also made a request seeking potential evidence, citing doubts about the authenticity of the President’s WASC results.

The source said that the PDP representatives who visited Cambridge were stunned to discover that the President did write the examination, passed and were even dumbfounded when they cited the well kept records of the Cambridge University.

The source said even the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and associates requested Cambridge provide them with a confirmation of his certificate.

“Cambridge Assessment International Education had to issue a certifying statement that indeed President Buhari sat for his examinations in 1961. It was because the institution was inundated with requests for the verification of his result.”

The source said the institution is surprised that the opposition party still claims that the President does not have a certificate even after it had demanded for it and was handed evidence.

This revelation from Cambridge is coming amid the circulation on Friday of a pre-2015 election video, slanted to give the impression that the President’s certificate is still a contentious issue.

In a press statement on Friday by Oladele Peter, the Secretary of Initiative to Save Democracy (ISD) said it is sub judice for the opposition party to continue to make attempts at preempting the judgment of the Presidential Election Tribunal.

“The desperation of the PDP is frightening, very frightening to say the least. They will stop at nothing and I expect Nigerians to be aware of their antics by now. They have peddled all kind of falsehood against the President especially the claim that he does not have a certificate but have always failed.”

He noted that the first attempt to ridicule the President was in 2014 before the 2015 elections, stressing that, if they have any evidence contrary to what has been presented in court and what they themselves discovered at Cambridge and which was tendered in the open court, they should present it.

“The PDP is free to present its counter-evidence if there is any but they know that there is no such document or evidence. They are only playing on the emotions of Nigerians by peddling fake news; a 2015 video deliberately slanted. It is  time Nigerians become more aware of this,” he said.

Mr Peter said it is another signal of desperation that the opposition party has even gone to the extent of populating an old video in which the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed was deliberately taken out of context.

“This is a very old video, for those of us who watch Channels TV we were stunned to see the video making the rounds, it’s old and ridiculous. If you watch the video, you will find that Mr. Mohammed never said they should pardon the President, instead he said if someone does not find his or her certificate after 53 years they could be pardoned.

According to him, “it is unbelievable how the opposition party and its backers continue to push a media campaign hoping to confuse everybody, yet in the court of law, their case was clearly shown to be hopeless and baseless.”

Besides the Cambridge University Certificate the President’s lawyer, Wole Olanipekun also presented in court class photos of the President and his classmates. The Cambridge University Certificate was obtained personally by the President’s Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari who travelled to the UK to secure it in mid-July.

While Malam Suleman Mai-adua, Buhari’s classmate in Katsina Provincial Secondary School presented to the court the group photograph of the school’s class six of 1961 set.

PDP, Atiku Hatch New Plot To Demonise Chief Justice -BMO

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has raised an alarm that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar have hatched a plot to smear the character of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Tanko Mohammed ahead of the September 13 judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

According to the group, this is the outcome of a recent strategy meeting of PDP leaders and the former Vice President in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

BMO said in a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, that it has credible information that Atiku and PDP, fearing near-certain loss at the Tribuna,l are preparing the ground for an appeal at the Supreme Court. One of their strategies for a favourable outcome at the Supreme Court is to force the CJN to recuse himself from the Supreme Court panel to hear the appeal.

“We want to alert Nigerians of a devious plot concocted by PDP elements in their usual haven of dubious strategies to launch scathing media attacks on the judiciary with Chief Justice Tanko Mohammed as main target.

“The latest Dubai strategy of lies has been tidied up and is to be launched soon with the ultimate aim of preventing the CJN from heading the Supreme Court panel that will consider their appeal against the outcome of the Tribunal which they envisaged won’t be favourable to them.

“It is a pre-emptive move by a group of unpatriotic politicians which we want Nigerians to be aware of, before they bombard the public space with the type of spurious claims that made the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa stand down from the five-member panel that considered Atiku Abubakar’s petition against President Muhammadu Buhari’s overwhelming victory at the polls.

“Nigerians saw how these characters did not care about the sterling qualities of one of the country’s best judges as they maligned her for weeks on end in social and traditional media. They also saw through the crocodile tears of the former Vice President after Justice Bulkachuwa opted to recuse herself, even after the Tribunal dismissed PDP’s petition against her.

“Now, Atiku’s attention is on how to get Chief Justice Mohammed out of the way by again using the media to whip up unnecessary public sentiment, in line with his well-documented desperation to rule the country.”

BMO therefore urged Nigerians to remind the former Vice President of his promise to abide by the verdict of the Tribunal.

“In case he has forgotten, the PDP presidential candidate needs to be reminded of the promise one of his campaign spokesmen, Segun Sowunmi made on his behalf that Atiku would accept the verdict of the Tribunal on his petition challenging the emergence of President Buhari as winner of the election.

“Of course, we recognise his constitutional right to proceed to the Supreme Court but we are opposed to a situation where a former Vice President would be part of a scheme to tarnish the image and reputation of the head of our nation’s judiciary.

“For a man that once claimed to be interested in ‘institutional reforms that would enhance national development’, we consider it absurd that he is at the forefront of efforts to rubbish national institutions and their heads.

“And just like we said before the 2019 elections that their Dubai strategy would fail, this Dubai strategy too will also collapse like a pack of cards,” it added.

BMO To Atiku, Saraki: You Can’t Match Buhari On Integrity

Senate President Bukola Saraki’s claims that President Muhammadu Buhari does not have the integrity to prosecute a successful war against corruption is the joke of the century, says the Buhari Media Organization(BMO)

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke BMO said that neither Saraki nor the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar can measure up to the President on the integrity scale.

“We are shocked, like many Nigerians, that the usually smooth-talking Director General of PDP’s Presidential Campaign Council was short of words when asked questions bordering on President Buhari’s integrity

“This is because he knows that all the tales from the opposition rank, designed to paint the President with the same corruption tag as Atiku Abubakar, are just lies and propaganda.

“Or why did he not use the opportunity to bring up the tales about Buhari using proxies to buy controlling stakes in Etisalat and Keystone Bank like PDP had alleged in recent weeks”

“He also struggled to smear the President during the interview with Channels TV before he opted to clutch at straw by speaking about corruption in the system

“We agree that corrupt people are still in the system and many believe that the Senate President is one of them, which is why he conspired with anti-people forces in the National Assembly to scuttle President Buhari’s bid to push through several anti-corruption bills including the establishment of special courts”.

BMO noted that no government has since 1999 showed the type of political will displayed by the present administration to stem the tide of corruption in the country.

It recalled that it was under this government that high profile convictions were recorded in the trial of politically exposed persons while several former government officials forfeited property acquired with stolen public funds

“It is surprising that Saraki pretended to have forgotten that a sitting senator Joshua Dariye was convicted and sentenced to fourteen years in jail for embezzling funds during his tenure as Plateau state governor during 1999 and 2007.There is a also a similar conviction of a former Taraba state governor Jolly Nyame which Atiku’s campaign coordinator cannot say he is not aware of

“These are cases that were stalled on several occasions in the past and had been on for over ten years until the two powerful personalities were convicted even though they are now registered members of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC)”, BMO said

The group also noted that while President Buhari has left no doubt in Nigerians’ mind on his integrity, the same cannot be said of the Senate President.

“it is public knowledge that his name featured prominently in the global offshore leak known as Panama Papers which exposed leading world politicians who used shell companies in tax havens to either conceal assets, evade tax or launder funds.

Atiku, PDP Broke, Can’t Finance Presidential Election – APC

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Yekini Nabena has said the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar are at a crossroads on how to source funds for the 2019 electioneering campaign.

Nabena who had earlier asked security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Dubai meeting of Atiku and the PDP had also accused them of trying to use the said meeting to launder funds for the elections.
However, in apparent reaction to the purported search of Atiku’s aircraft by security operatives on his arrival from Dubai, Nabena noted that due to the stringent measures put in place by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, the opposition party is now in a dilemma on how to source funds to run the Atiku Presidential Campaign.

Nabena in the statement alleged that available information from the PDP’s recent strategy meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates indicated that there was a major setback as the hope of sourcing campaign funds from public coffers were dashed.

“The Presidential Candidate expects the party to provide funds for his campaign. This is the Buhari Era, an era of strict accountability and transparency in the use and application of public funds and not the Jonathan Era in 2015 when the national treasury was opened to PDP leaders to prosecute the Presidential campaign.

“The party leaders are therefore in serious difficulty and dilemma on how to source funds to run the Atiku Presidential Campaign. Some financiers of the party expect that the candidate, having bought the ticket with millions of dollars should have the financial capacity to run his campaign. With the candidate’s expectation that it is the party that will fund his campaign it is now clear that they are at a crossroads and the chickens have come home to roost.

“The anti-corruption agencies should gird their loins and ensure that all sources of campaign funds by political parties are closely monitored and recover the funds looted during the Jonathan era. Such recovered funds should be applied for the benefit of the poor masses who were denied democracy dividends during the 16 years misrule of the PDP.

“It is now clear to the members of the PDP who were deceived into believing that their Presidential Candidate is a man of stupendous wealth that it is all a mirage, a 419 packaging and that they entered a ‘one chance’ bus.

“As we approach February 2019 when General Elections will be held in Nigeria, the electorate are becoming more conscious and aware of the deceitful nature of their so-called leaders. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the Presidential Candidate of the PDP is nationally known as a man of immense wealth. Apart from his being a retired officer of the Department of Customs and Excise not above the rank of Deputy Director, and not known to have been an exceptionally successful businessman, his claims to stupendous wealth and sources are questionable and lack credibility.

“During the ‘dollar rain’ at the Port Harcourt Convention of the Party, he outspent all the other aspirants and easily clinched the party’s Presidential ticket. Having emerged without the support of the ‘Governor-General’ of the party, who had earlier produced the party’s National Chairman and ordered the party to hold its convention in Port Harcourt, Alhaji Atiku is now on ‘his own’ in bankrolling his campaign.

“The Nigerian Electorate has a better alternative– to stick to the clean, honest and transparent leadership of Muhammadu Buhari GCFR who has done so much to ensure better future for them after the 16 years misrule of the PDP”, he added.

Atiku Explains Absence At Buhari’s Biography Book Launch

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has explained his absence at the book launch of President Muhammadu Buhari’s authorised biography, ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria’ on Monday in Abuja.

A statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, the former vice president was absent at the book presentation because he got the invitation late.

Ibe claimed that the former Vice-President only received the invitation on Monday after the event had started.

He, however, admitted that the invitation dated September 30 was received in Abubakar’s office on Saturday.

He said, “For inexplicable reason, the former Vice President only received his invitation today (Monday) after the event had started.

“It is on record that the invitation for the Turakin Adamawa was delivered to the Atiku Centre on October 1, 40 hours before the event of today, and only after the former Vice President had travelled to Gombe to honour the invitation for the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the creation of creation of the State.

“The former Vice-President returned to Abuja on Sunday night, October 2.

“The invitation letter signed September 30, 2016, the last working day of the week was handed over to Atiku Abubakar today (Monday), after the programme had commenced.

“As a former Vice-President well-schooled in the demands of protocol, it would have been inappropriate of the Turakin Adamawa to storm into the event while Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in-chief was already seated with other dignitaries including visiting Heads of Government to the occasion.”

Atiku, Others Protest As Ribadu Returns To APC

Nuhu Ribadu has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), The Nation learnt yesterday.

The former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman got a letter from Adamawa State chapter of the party seeking his return to the party.

He is going to be readmitted with a former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria( ACN ) in the state, Mr. Marcus Gundiri, with their supporters.

But former Vice President,  Atiku Abubakar, Adamawa State Governor Jibrilla Bindow, and two others have protested to National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun and the National Working Committee (NWC) against Ribadu’s return.

The APC leadership told Atiku, the governor and others that the constitution allows an individual to join a party of his choice.

Once a state chapter of the party is receptive to anyone’s membership, there is a limit to which the National Headquarters can do, they were told.

Ribadu accepted to return to APC following overtures from the leaders of APC at the national level, ex-Governor Murtala Nyako, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir David Lawal, the state and local government chapters of the party.

A June 22, 2016 letter by the Adamawa State chapter, signed by the Acting State Secretary, Alh. Saidu Naira invited Ribadu back to the party.

The letter reads: “We the entire APC Adamawa State chapter wish to invite you back to your “Home party”, APC.

“Given your track records and progressive nature, we strongly believe APC  is where you belong to.

“We are also mindful of the efforts and contributions you made during the merger without which the merger would have been difficult.

“To this end, we reaffirm our request for you to come home to APC and assist and contribute to the success of the APC government both at the state and national levels.”

A party source said: “We decided to invite Ribadu to return to APC because he was frustrated out by some PDP elements who defected to our party during the merger and countdown to 2015 elections.

“Ribadu did so much for APC in Adamawa State but the setback which made him to go to PDP was frustration following a disagreement with some of our leaders, like ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on the impeachment of ex-Governor Murtala Nyako. Ribadu worked tirelessly to save Nyako from impeachment but our leaders paid lip service and stoked the fire which made ex-Speaker Umar Fintiri to remove the former governor.

“The insincerity of APC leaders in the state made Ribadu to defect to PDP against his own volition. So, he left APC as a result of local politics. It was a state affair but today things have changed.

“When Ribadu was pushed to the wall, he had no choice than to pitch tent with the PDP which needed a credible candidate. Ribadu was frustrated out of APC for being a true party man to save Nyako.

“And the PDP elements, who joined APC, were uncomfortable with the anti-corruption stance of Ribadu and his acceptance in the party. So, it was convenient to hatch a plot to kick him out of the party.

“Today Nyako is vindicated and Umar Fintiri is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC).

“We are now out to correct the past by asking him  to return to APC because Nyako has been vindicated. The court said his removal was wrong. Ribadu has also been justified because he insisted that Nyako was a victim of political vendetta and abuse of power. Nyako is back.

“We have realised that we have all wronged Ribadu. We want him back.”

Asked if Ribadu has accepted the offer, the source said: “He has agreed to return to our fold. We are all happy with him.”

Atiku, Bindow, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government and the Chief of Staff on Monday protested to John Odigie-Oyegun and the NWC.

The four-man delegation met  with Odigie-Oyegun and his team.

It was all about Ribadu, a source said.

The source, a member of the NWC, said: “We were all shocked that the ex-VP came with the governor and two others to prevail on the  leadership of the party not to readmit Ribadu into APC.

“They spoke of the need for party discipline since Ribadu contested on PDP platform against Bindow. They said Ribadu’s coming back will spell doom for APC unity in the state.

“They all forgot that they were once in PDP too before defecting to APC. Bindow is a former PDP senator.

“Some of us spoke about added value which Ribadu can bring to our party as one of the brains behind the merger politics which led to the birth of APC.

“Contrary to their mission, the leadership at the national level and stakeholders are extremely excited about the return of Ribadu. He is a progressive in thinking and action. The APC needs his service. We became suspicious because no leader of APC at the state level followed them.

“At the end of the day, the party said constitutionally you cannot stop anybody from joining a party. We told the delegation that it is a state issue. If the state executives of APC accept Ribadu, we cannot reject him.

“We will however do our best to reconcile all members of the party, whether old or new. Our ultimate target is to keep the APC family united.”

It was also gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari’s supporters endorsed the return of Ribadu.

It’s Time To Move On, Atiku Tells Tinubu, Other APC leaders

A former Vice President and chieftain of APC, Atiku Abubakar, has urged leaders of the All Progressives Congress to shift from “extreme positions to a centrist one for the interest of democracy and the party, the new administration and the country at large”.

The former Vice President made the call Thursday against the backdrop of the APC NEC meeting in Abuja.

A statement released by his media office in Abuja on Thursday, quoted the former Vice President as calling for the concentration of positive energies on building unity, cohesion and harmony among party leaders and other stakeholders.

“We can resolve our differences when our leaders individually and collectively shift ground from extreme positions and move to the centre in the interest of our party and our country.”

Atiku, who was outside the country to perform Lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Saudi Arabia, said that he was deeply concerned that, soon after capturing power, the APC is torn apart at a time more energy is needed to attend to the objectives of the change agenda for which it was voted into power.

The APC has been rocked by crisis over the election of National Assembly leaders.

Atiku is believed to supports the emergence of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, against the wish of the party’s leaders, including the chairman, John Oyegun, and a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu.

The former Vice President said it was high time the party overcame its current crisis of confidence arising from the National Assembly election of principal officers.

He said the current blame games targeted at individuals was an unnecessary diversion of energies at the expense of the urgency of the mission of the party to make life better for Nigerians.

According to the former Vice President, the vilification of individual party leaders and members in the face of challenges facing the country was painful to him, adding that the party should learn the lessons and move ahead.

While restating his commitment to the party and its change agenda, the former Vice President advised the party leaders not to allow people of bad faith to fuel division and acrimony among the party, adding that all positive energies should be directed towards sustaining the morale of the voters who look forward to the APC to make their lives better.

He reminded party leaders that any division could be exploited at the expense of the party. He extended his goodwill to the party for successful deliberations and assured the party of continued support and loyalty at all times.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on today hosted top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a crucial meeting, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting, which is the first of its kind, is taking place while President Muhammadu Buhari is away in Saudi Arabia on official trip.

The meeting which lasted about four hours started at about 11am and ended at about 2.40pm local time. gathered that the agenda of the meeting was a broad one, which covers issues relating to the funding of the party, the need to start implementation of the party’s manifesto and get the government move faster before losing the goodwill that has sustained it thus far.

Those in attendance included a leader of the party; Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun; Senate Leader, Ali Ndume; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal; and a former interim chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande.

Others at the crucial meeting were the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Segun Oni; Chief Tony Momoh; Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madubere; and the Special Adviser to the Vice President on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu.

Saraki had arrived at about 12.30pm when the meeting was already underway. Those who participated in the meeting refused to talk to State House correspondents. Ojudu told reporters at the end of the meeting that participants would not grant interviews. He however promised that the Office of the Vice President would issue a statement later.

He said, “The meeting was just a meeting of party chiefs. It does not require that we should have an elaborate discussion with you. So, you should allow them to go freely on their own without being asked to come and grant interviews. But the Office of the Vice President will issue a short statement on the meeting later. What we are saying is that it was just a consultative meeting of selected party leaders on party matters and other issues.”

On whether the meeting was meant to address the crisis of confidence among some of the party leaders, Ojudu said, “No, nothing like that.” The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, later issued a two-paragraph statement on the meeting.

The statement reads “Select leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, drawn from the party’s National Headquarters, the legislative and executive arms of government had a consultative meeting on issues affecting the party and the nation.

“The meeting, which held at the Vice President’s conference room, was very useful and resourceful towards achieving the goals of the party and the government.”

$2b Malabu Scam: Go And Clear Your Name, Atiku Tells Adoke

Barely 24 four hours after writing a comprehensive letter to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, exonerating himself of any infraction in the controversial Malabu Oil scam, the immediate past Attorney General , Mohammed Adoke, has been asked to face his problems and stop dragging others in the mud.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, issued the warning in response to Adoke’s claim in the letter that he (Atiku) was among those behind his travails for not helping them to get a share of the $2 billion as ‘shareholders’ of Malabu.

In the letter to Osinbajo  on Monday, Adoke had alleged that the aggrieved individuals including Atiku, who is posing as Lawal Abba were behind the smear campaign against him for not extending the proceeds of the deal to them.

Adoke said: “I was also informed that these individuals had enlisted a notorious online media to smear my name with allegations of corruption and bribery and that some agents of the Abacha family and one Lawal Abba acting for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President were behind the scheme.

“They claim that they were shareholders in Malabu Oil and   Gas Limited and had been short-changed by the main shareholder     of the company, and that I had refused to use my official position as Attorney      General of the Federation to help them get their dues from the main shareholder.

“It is apparent from these publications that the intention is not necessarily the clarifications sought by the EFCC but a carefully orchestrated plan for my assured unjustified persecution, humiliation and disgrace by a known group with interest in the Malabu matter that are aggrieved over my official role in the resolution of the case.
