The All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF), the youth wing of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state is set to mobilize thousands of youths across the state to ensure APC emerges victorious in the presidential, governorship elections and all other positions across the state in the 2019 elections.

The group added that “That this is the time to liberate the people of the state from the grip of tyrannical leadership.”

State Coordinator of APYF Tunde Salau added that the forum is “looking forward to organizing an interactive forum with the aspirants; wherein the governorship aspirants will have a face-to-face discussion with the youths on issues or challenges affecting the youth and how they (the aspirants) plan to tackle such challenges if they eventually occupy the number one seat in the state.

Comrade Salau hailed Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the state APC chair Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa, for organizing a successful parley for all APC governorship aspirants in the state.

APC on Wednesday this week organized a parley with all the 12 governorship aspirants in the state.

Salau said members of the forum were impressed with the success of the programme being the first of its kind in the history of not only in Kwara, but in Nigerian politics.

“We believe that there was no place in the history of Nigerian politics where aspirants of the same political party were given an opportunity to present their manifestos to the electorates in an organised setting.

He added that “This singular act demonstrates the uncommon leadership charisma of the minister and the party chairman Bashir Bolarinwa for encouraging transparency, accountability and unity in the party and among the aspirants who saw themselves as brothers and partners in progress during the programme.”

Lagos APYF Lauds APC’s Direct Primary Adoption

The Lagos State Chapter of All Progressives Youth Congress (APYF), a youth group under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has lauded the party’s decision to adopt Direct Primary to pick its candidates for the 2019 general elections.

Recall that the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had said the adoption of Direct Primary is to grow democracy and to give party members a sense of belonging.

The National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had also recently at the party’s stakeholders’ meeting which held in Lagos announced the party’s adoption of direct primary.

In a statement on Monday by the State Cordinator, Doctor Sola Osindero, he said that the adoption of Direct Primary to choose candidates across board will make APC a stronger party and will set a new standard in Nigerian’s democratic culture.

His words: “When the news of direct primary filtered out, our party witnessed renewed reinvigoration across the state and the country.

“Democracy is defined as a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them, and in the direct primary the people decide who represents them.

“Direct Primary is more participatory, it gives all party members sense of belonging, it also serve as a preliminary election, and it deepens democracy.

“We as a youth organization support this and we hope the party will stand resolute on its decision to adopt open primaries.”

APYF Cautions Saraki Media Office: Stop The Fake News

The All Progressives Youth Forum has cautioned the Saraki Media Office to stop peddling fake news on social media platforms aimed at disparaging the image of the party and its members.

The Forum in a statement signed by its National Field Diroector, Mr. Alwah Hassan, noted that it had observed the spread of lies, false stories and deliberately misconstrued reports being pushed especially on Whatsapp by members of Saraki’s media office erroneously claiming the recent report by the IGP on the NASS siege linked APC politicians to the raid.

“It has been observed that messages attempting to link the APC with the unfortunate events that took place at the National Assembly are being pushed out by members of Saraki’s media team. It is embarrassing that people who should know better and follow ethical practices in communication are involved in this.” the statement read.

“We want to state clearly that the APC has nothing to do with the recent siege by the DSS on the National Assembly. It was clear that members of the APC were conspicuously absent during the siege even when members of the PDP imputed they were inside the National Assembly only to enter and find out they were only acting on figments of their imaginations.” the statement continued.

“The All Progressives Youth Forum wishes to commend the Acting President for his swift and decisive action that proved once more that the President Buhari led administration is one that respects the rule of law and would not tolerate impunity.”

The Forum described moves being made by desperate politicians and media aides hungry to impress their principals by spreading fake news as unhelpful in making Nigeria a better place.

The APYF called on Nigerians to continue to have faith in the APC led administration, noting that it would ensure to deliver on its promises, as it fixes years of destruction orchestrated by the 16 years of the PDP.

APYF: Buhari Has A Track-Record Of Supporting Young People

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Youth Forum (APYF), Mr. Ife Adebayo, on Thursday, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s comments about the youth of Nigeria were misrepresented.

n a statement released by the APYF to correspondents, Mr. Adebayo stated that President Buhari’s track record on empowering young people speaks for itself.

The Chairman said: ”Mr President was totally misrepresented.

“Just looking at the Buhari administration’s track record with young people, you will know that his statement is being given meanings that were not intended by Mr President.

“A President that started a social intervention program that is aimed at empowering 500,000 graduates cannot intentionally call these same young people lazy. A President that pays 200,000 young people N6billion monthly, at a rate of N30,000 per person every month, simply to ensure that these young people are compensated for their hard work, cannot call young people lazy.

“We can already see the results of these programs. Many young people are back at work. Hundreds of thousands of these same young people have already started their own businesses.

“If you come to the villa, the offices are filled with young people. Some are in their 40s, but a vast majority of them are either in their 30s or under. For example, the advisory team on power in the villa, which is working to to fix power issues in the country, is made up of young people mostly below 35.

“Furthermore, only on Tuesday, the Vice President was in Lagos to visit and support young Nigerians doing amazing things in the technology space. He applauded these young innovators for breaking boundaries and using technology to solve problems. By these actions, clearly, we can all agree that this is a government that has been consistent in its support for young people.”

The Chairman went on to emphasize that President Buhari himself welcomed young Nigerians that participated in the Aso Villa Demo Day in 2016. He also cited that recently, Mr. President also stood with the young people in the APC and spoke against the tenure elongation for party officials.

“I can go on and on,” Adebayo said, “But I think those castigating Mr President are being hasty and not taking the time to think his statement through.”

Dapchi Girls: APYF Congratulates Buhari, Security Forces

The All Progressives Congress Youth Forum (APYF), has commended President Buhari and Nigeria’s security forces for their swift response to the abduction of the Dapchi Girls, which led to the release of 101 girls on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Ife Adebayo, who recently took over from the erstwhile Chairman and founder of the Forum, Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed, stated that the rescue of the girls was a demonstration of the commitment of the Buhari administration to guarantee the safety and security of the lives and properties of all Nigerians.

The statement read:

“The rescue of the Dapchi girls attests to the commitment of President Buhari and his government to protect the lives and property of all citizens.

“Our security forces have also shown that they will do all that it takes to secure and bring back all our abducted girls, whether in Dapchi or Chibok — this government will remain relentless until every last girl comes home.

“Moving forward, as a nation, we must all remain united against terrorism in all its forms. We must not lend credence to the conspiracy theorists and their theories and we must not join in the propagation of stories that will fuel the negative impact of the insurgents. This is what they want, hence, our condemnation of Boko Haram and all its activities must remain absolute.

“On its part, the federal and state governments must work to ensure that all education institutions across the nation receive the necessary security so that the abductions of our young brothers and sisters does not reoccur.

“We have overcome, this time,” the Chairman of the Youth Forum said, “By God’s grace, we shall always continue to overcome and move forward as a nation under God.”

Osun APC Youths Convokes State Wide Town Hall Meetings

The All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) in the State of Osun will from the 10th to the 24th February, 2017 hold Town Hall Meetings across the state to engage Youths of the party to take critical stand on issues affecting the party.
This State Coordinator of the Forum, Comrade Olateju Olorungbebe Adunni in a press statement released to newsmen on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital.
He explained that the meeting is geared towards five key areas of interest to further deepen political participation and fight for basic interests of Youths in the state chapter of the party.
His words “The town hall meeting is an opportunity for us- Osun APC Youths to interact intimately with political appointees and party leaders elected on the platform of APC in our locality, to assemble and discuss our basic interests, to vent our grouses/ grievances before party leaders, to proffer solution to internal tension threatening our cohesion and band together irrespective of our “political self-interest” and swing into the activities that will cement our place in the history as the political nucleus of Osun APC.”
The Osun Coordinator of the APYF added that “As youths, we have always complained that we are marginalized and our voices are not heard in spite of our numerical strength which confers electoral advantage on the party “if we are united”. Sadly and consequently, some aggrieved youths resort to anti-party activities, some by virtue of conscience, stand akimbo and grumble silently.”
Comrade Olateju Adunni who said the forum is not an avenue for members of the party to publicise or campaign for their governorship aspirants said the motive is to create a direction for Osun APC Youths.
“We want to make it abundantly clear that the Town Hall Meeting is not a sounding board to drum support or mobilise for governorship ambition of any of the aspirants jockeying to succeed Rauf Aregbesola. In the light of the foregoing, we appeal to our colleagues to drop ‘political self interest’ in speech and conduct during the town hall meeting in the interest of the party.”
Finally, he urged members of the forum and the general public to cease the opportunity availed them by the ongoing voter registration across the country to get their voters cards as this was the only way to ensure that the party retains power both in the state of Osun and at the center.

APYF Condoles With Asiwaju Tinubu Over Son’s Death

The All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) received with shock the news of Mr. Jide Tinubu, son of the national leader of our party (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We offer our deep condolence and sympathy to Asiwaju and his family on this tragic and irredeemable loss.

While the death of Mr. Jide is indeed very painful, we take solace in the fact that the junior Tinubu, before his untimely death, has already recorded significant achievements as a charming and affectionate young man who cultivated memorable relationships through which he impacted the lives of many.

Considering the fact that the longevity of life is not so much important as its meaning, we are confident that the meaningful life led by Mr. Jide Tinubu, although short, will make him immortal and entrench him in the memory of many for a long time to come.

In this moment of grief, our prayers are with the family of Jagaba. While we pray to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear this huge loss, we enjoin Asiwaju Tinubu to take solace in the fact that Jide lived a fulfilled and inspiring life.

It is our prayer that God in His infinite mercies would grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family, especially Asiwaju and his dear wife, the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

APYF Congratulates New SGF Boss Mustapha, Pledges Support

The All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) received with excitement the news of the appointment of Mr. Boss Mustapha as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari. On behalf of the teeming youths of the APC, we wish to congratulate and felicitate with Mr. Mustapha on this well deserved appointment.

The work of the Secretary to the government of the Federation is a job that requires effective management of relationship and bureaucratic structures. As a lawyer, management consultant, politician and businessman who has spent several years in Nigeria’s public service and built a solid reputation, we are confident that Mr. Mustapha possessed the requisite ability needed to streamline the activities of a government in today’s highly sophisticated and relationship-based world. We have no doubt that the new SGF would deplore his far-reaching experience in contributing to the delivery of good governance and the prosecution of the Change agenda of President Buhari’s administration.

APYF Cautions Senator Misau Over Comment On Aisha Buhari

The All Progressives Congress Youth Forum (APYF), Adamawa State Chapter, wishes to caution Senator Issa Hamma Misau, the Distinguished Senator representing Bauchi Central in the National Assembly, from involving the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, in his ongoing feud with the Inspector General of Police.
While Senator Misau has every right to raise allegations of corruption, impropriety and irregularities against the institution of the police and the Inspector General as an individual, the involvement of Mrs. Buhari in this matter is a step taken too far.
This is because the allegation raised against her and her staff border on the personal safety of the wife of the President and Commander in Chief of Nigeria’s Armed Forces. Therefore, this should not be an issue that is up for debate, whether politically or personally.
The APYF stands by the truth and by the ideals of transparent governance that guarantees the safety and well-being of our public office holders, their families, and the general public, consequently, it is our strong belief as the youth wing of the ruling party that all members of our party must adhere to an honorable code of conduct that is devoid of the inclusion of family members of political figures to settle political scores or make sensational points.
On this account, we strongly urge Senator Misau to cease and desist from all pointless allusions and insinuations to the person of Mrs. Buhari.

APYF Celebrates #KwaraAt50, Tasks Stakeholders To Involve Youths In Shaping The Future

The Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF) felicitates with Kwara State indigenes, home and abroad, on the 50th year anniversary of the State of Harmony.

We congratulate all our leaders, both past and present, for the dynamic roles they played and still playing in laying the structures for a glorious State.

We specifically commend the efforts of the political leader of the State, Dr. Bukola Saraki, our amiable governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, His Eminence, the Emir of Ilorin and chairman of Kwara state traditional council, Alhaji(Dr.) Ibrahim Zulu Gambari and other royal fathers for upholding the legacy of peaceful coexistence which Kwara is known for, and which forms the basis for this celebrations. That Kwara remained intact in spite of the many centrifugal and divisive forces is a testimony to the ingenuity and capacity of our leaders.

The Forum also duly recognize and commend all individuals who have one way or the other brought fame to our dear State through their exploits in different fields of human endeavors. It is due to the collective efforts and individual achievements of hardworking Kwarans that the State of harmony has achieved the recognition and respect it currently enjoys in the comity of states in the federation. That Kwara is proudly celebrating 50 today is therefore due largely to the tenacity and achievements of these individuals.

The theme of the celebration is very apt, ‘celebrating harmony, shaping the future’. It is a theme that reflects the recognition of youths as the custodians and bearers of all future hopes and dreams. In the light of this, APYF would like to appeal to all the Stakeholders in Kwara State to rededicate themselves to mentoring and nurturing future leaders in order to attain the objective of preparing a successor generation that is capable of sustaining the growth that Kwara has achieved over the years.

It imperative for the political leaders in the State to cultivate and nurture a leadership learning platform for the next generation by involving them in governance and harvesting their youthful foresight to advance the fortunes of our dear State. To shape the future, the youths, who are custodians of sustainable progress, must be made partakers and part-owners of all future aspirations.

Once again, we congratulate the government and the good people of Kwara State on this auspicious celebration of half a century history of togetherness and peaceful coexistence.
