Probe Ilorin Shootings By Ajibola’s Thugs, Kwara APC Tells Police

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kwara State chapter has called on ?Kwara State Police Command to immediately commence investigation into the sporadic shootings which subjected Ilorin residents to humiliation and fear of terror on Sunday by political thugs who are in the entourage and convoy of Kwara State  PDP governorship candidate, Senator Simeon Ajibola.?

In a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday by the State Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party described the incident which occurred along Niger Street, in Ilorin  as unfortunate and a threat to public peace.?

“We are shocked by the unfortunate incident that happened in Ilorin today (Sunday).
The unfortunate incident happened when thugs in the convoy of PDP governorship candidate, Senator Simeon Ajibola engaged in sporadic shootings and brandishing of guns and rifles thereby causing stampede and people running for their dear lives. It is necessary to note that the breach of peace being enjoyed by people of kwara state by the  thugs of the PDP  gubernatorial candidate was unwarranted  and uncalled for. According to resident?s of Niger area of Ilorin, the incident will remain a trembling experience in their lifetime.?
“It is quite important to mention that the convoy of Senator Ajibola followed the convoy of a PDP Chieftain, Mr Dele Belgore whose supporters also engaged in the shooting spree. ?
“?The good people of Kwara State should note that the peace agreement, tagged “Ilorin Accord”, which was signed at INEC headquarters in Ilorin ?by ?15 political parties and their governorship candidates including the PDP and Senator Ajibola has been finally betrayed and broken by Senator Ajibola and his party.

“There is a clearer indication that Senator Ajibola is a sponsor of violence and thuggery in the state  going by the fact that political thugs which are  in his convoy, causing mayhem without provocation, engaged in sporadic shootings and brandishment of guns and rifles thereby subjecting the residents of Ilorin to trembling fear and intimidation .
“It bears repeating that the PDP governorship candidate started his campaign on a violent note and the PDP has never hidden its penchant for violence. The recent formation of war council by the PDP shows the readiness of the PDP to pursue and coordinate violence before, during and after the 2015 general elections.

“We have these questions and many more for Senator Ajibola: ?Why did Senator Ajibola subject the people he seeks to govern to that nature of trembling experience? Senator Ajibola should tell Kwarans why his thugs without provocation engaged in sporadic shootings which arrested the peace of the entire stretch of Niger area ?on Sunday? Senator Ajibola should come out clean on how he procured guns and rifles for his thugs? Senator Ajibola should tell Kwarans why he had to procure guns for his supporters? Were the guns lawfully procured? Is that his own way of empowering them? What if a stray bullet had knocked one of the residents down? What would have been Senator Ajibola’s response?

It must be noted that the United State Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, had stressed the fact that it is of paramount importance for the Nigerian people that 2015 election be peaceful . He further warned and maintained that ” anyone who participates in violence may be found ineligible for a US visa and would not be welcome in the United States”. It suffices to say that Senator Simeon Ajibola ?and his cohorts are in this category and we call on the United State Embassy in Nigeria to so hold.
?”?We further  call on the Kwara State Police Command to immediately commence investigation into the shootings indecent and compel Senator Ajibola  to handover the armed thugs in his convoy to the Police Command for proper investigation and prosecution. We expect that this investigation is conducted as quickly as possible and the report made public before the 28th of March – the rescheduled date for presidential election.”, the statement read.

My Government Created APC – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday claimed that the creation of the mega opposition party, the APC, was the result of his administration’s deliberate policy to entrench democracy in the country.

The president, who spoke at a roundtable aired live on national television and radio stations, said his administration allowed the opposition parties to merge by giving them the enabling environment.

Jonathan prided his administration as one which accommodates insults and abuses from the people without having to reprimand anyone, saying that in its bid to entrench democratic values, his government had ensured the freedom of speech.

Speaking through the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, he said the ruling PDP was not afraid of the APC, but was enjoying its activities because the opposition party remains its creation.

He observed that it was his deliberate policy of promoting freedom of association that made it possible for those in the opposition to merge and challenge the ruling party.

“President Jonathan believes (that) strong opposition is good for our democracy. Opposition should be very grateful to Mr President. Say whatever you want to say, it doesn’t matter – we enjoy it”, Anyim stated.

He added that the administration has promoted the right to vote and be voted for and strengthened the sanctity and integrity of democracy by ensuring that votes count.

Jonathan pointed out that despite all negative comments against him and his government, there had not been any political prisoner in the country.

He added that his administration had been able to stabilise the National Assembly by not interfering with their operations.

This, he explained, is his own way of decentralizing power by strengthening institutions rather than making himself or anybody serving under his government a dictator.

Jonathan Releases N9B To Ethnic Militias To Scuttle Elections, APC Alleges

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Jonathan Administration of sponsoring ethnic militias to foment trouble before, during and after the forthcoming general elections, saying the 9 billion Naira recently paid out to some ex-militants and ethnic militias is aimed at mobilizing them to scuttle the polls

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the protests by MASSOB last week seeking the sack of INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega was orchestrated by the Administration as part of its continuing efforts to sabotage the elections.

It said the next group that has been mobilized to protest against Jega and the use of card reader is the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), which is also a beneficiary of the 9 billion Naira payout ostensibly for pipeline protection, but in reality to prepare the ethnic militias for their reprehensible role in scuttling the elections.

APC said more ethnic militias are to be enlisted by the Jonathan Administration to continue the protest against Jega and the card reader, in order to give the impression that Nigerians want Jega sacked and are also against the use of card reader.

The party expressed sadness that a President who inherited a united nation has done everything he can to divide the country along ethnic and religious lines, including patronizing ethnic militias who serve no other purpose than to champion sectional interests at the expense of national unity.

It wondered why President Jonathan would pay 9 billion Naira to a handful of people at a time of great economic downturn and falling Naira, as well as in a situation in which many states cannot even afford to pay their workers because of dwindling allocation from the Federation Account.

”A profligate government that has been bribing people with dollars and ferrying huge funds around practically to buy votes has outdone itself by paying out all of 9billion Naira to a few Nigerians, with less than three weeks to the elections. Shortly after the payment, some self-serving groups started organizing protests that, for all intents and purposes, are being orchestrated to scuttle the polls. This is a shameful show by the federal government,” APC said.

Why The APC Must Never Debate With PDP By Peregrino Brimah

The thought of APC debating with PDP is appalling to say the least. It is simply wrong and any and every time one has seen the two engage in any type of tirade, we are disappointed in APC for missing its stride and stooping. Why should human being talk to animal? Who is inviting APC to debate? Is it Reuben Abati? The guy who criminally slandered the person of Buhari and after being sued had President Jonathan beg Buhari to settle the libel case out of court? Or is it Doyin Okupe sending the invite, that uncouth hooligan who was shouting deludedly in Aso rock recently. Seriously who is sending the invite? Is it the bunch of criminals or the bunch of murderers? Is it Ayo Fayose or Omisore? Is it Koro or Fani Kayode? Is the invitation coming from a launderer or a thieving rigging looter?

And then who is to be debated? Is it any of the members of that rotten stinking carcass as Fani Kayode rightfully categorized it? Is it the president? Unless the debate is about the right consequence to be meted on him for his crimes against humanity, whether it be impeachment first or handing over to the ICC; whether it should be life in prison or the gallows, what is to be spoken to this space occupying lesion?

It is an insult for PDP to ask APC for a debate. It is a betrayal of our consciences as people if APC ever honors such request. What is happening in Nigeria though taking the appearance of a democratic transfer of power is actually a REVOLUTION. Buhari is simply the vessel and flag bearer of the people’s revolution for change and the sacking of a system that has crippled them for decades. Buhari does not have the right to debase us by indulging criminals with a debate. APC members do not have the right and reason to drag themselves in the mud and insult us as a people by standing on the podium with criminals and murderers; with people who openly defend corruption and embrace stealing; with people who steal the money for our army and lead to the death of thousands of soldiers and defenseless citizens alike. With governments who cause loss of Nigeria’s territory and billions in economy losses of parts of the whole; with animals who defend Boko Haram and regard themselves as not part of the Nigerian total union; with land polluters; with terrorist protectors. Buhari may die in power, but Jonathan is killing us. Which do we prefer? There is nothing left to talk about. He has done 8 years in Aso rock; it is enough. It is time to return to Otueke. There is no debate in that.

Let us open the real debate: what punishment should be meted out on this bunch of shameless criminals? jail or the gallows?
