2019: Atiku Not A Threat To President Buhari – Lagos Lawmaker

Hon. Victor Akande, lawmaker representing Ojo Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid was not threatened by the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others in the 2019 presidential election.

Akande, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said the only opposition APC has is the one against itself.

Akande, who recently defected from PDP to APC on the floor of the House, said that Buhari had nothing to fear.

“We cannot be talking about the people who ruled Nigeria for 16 years and have nothing to show for it. We are talking about somebody who has only ruled for three years and is performing.

“Should we be afraid of those who looted the economy. There is nothing to fear about the judgment is for the masses.

“We cannot be fighting corruption and some people will be complaining.

“Things were spoiled for 16 years and another government now came to revive them,we will have to sacrifice and give them time.”

While carpeting those blaming APC for the harsh economy in the country, he said that the party did not cause the current poverty in the land.

He said APC had its manifestos, agenda, and blueprints, saying that these had to be followed gradually, adding that they could not be done overnight.

“We are not magicians. The United States of America did not get to where they are today overnight. Economy that has been bad for 16 years, we cannot perform magic in four years.

“We had to find the root of the problem and that is what President Muhammadu Buhari has done, that is what APC has done.
“They have tried to get to the root cause of the problem and they found a heavy corruption.

“The whole thing fall in the hands of the bourgeoisie and who now came up with propaganda to run down the government.
“The coming together of unscrupulous elements cannot bring down a working government.”

On the conduct of 2019 general elections, Akande advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) do the needful so that the people would not doubt its integrity.

Akande, who urged the politicians to desist from anything capable of jeorpadising the country’s democracy, advised voters to vote according to their conscience.

2019: APC Will Win Ogun, Deliver Hope Uzodinma In Imo State, Oshiomole Vows

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomole, has assured party supporters that the ruling party will win all elective positions in Imo and Ogun State.

Oshiomole stated this while receiving APC women leaders from Edo State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at his office in Abuja.

Oshiomhole was, however, confident that the APC remains stronger in Imo and Ogun states, despite the grievances of their governors as a result of the outcome of the party’s primaries where their preferred candidates lost.

He said: “The real headline today is that we will win in Ogun State and we will deliver Hope Uzodinma in Imo State.  Our popularity in Imo today is increasing. What we don’t know and Nigerians always make this mistake that once you are a governor, you have electoral value.

“Yes, we have overwhelming majority of APC governors who have electoral values and we also have some few electoral liabilities. I can tell that in Imo State today we will have more votes.

“Politics is about numbers and I am looking at the average Imo voters because on that the governor will have one vote and his son-in-law will also have one vote. Those market women, artisans, mechanics and farmers will also have their vote.

“Those who think our political future is tied to them; they are poor students of their own political history. Some of these people who talk as if they are invincible, they have forgotten that they have run elections in the past and lost until they abandoned their parties and joined us. So if they return back, history will repeat itself.

“In Imo State today, APC will win more votes. My focus is on ordinary Imo voters because on that day, the governor would have only one vote, his son-in-law would have only one vote while his Commissioner for Happiness would have only one vote.

“But artisans, traders, teachers and workers whose salaries are not being paid have the same weight of vote and they are excited about the renewed possibility of a new government coming with fresh ideas free of all the encumbrances of the present system. So, in Imo I’m very confident.

“Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is from Ogun State. The state is one of the most enlightened states in Nigeria. They have a huge history; they are not in a political kingdom headed by one person.

“If they were looking for true reconciliation, they wouldn’t have done what they did (defection of aides). That is not how democracy works. Nigeria must grow beyond this syndrome –  ‘I’m the governor, I will decide.’ You have only one vote. With due respect, I was once a governor. Overall, APC is much stronger now.”

Recall that the primaries in Imo and Ogun states had pitted Governors Ibikunle Amosun and Rochas Okorocha of Ogun and Imo State respectively against the National Chairman as their anointed governorship choices failed to secure the party’s gubernatorial ticket.

While both governors have promised to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid, they also vowed that they would stop at nothing to ensure the victories of their choice candidates in other parties.

Okorocha’s supporters  have defected to the Action Alliance (AA). Amosun’s have joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Atiku Bitter He Doesn’t Have Access To Wealth As Before – APC

National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has reacted to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claims that President Muhammadu Buhari executed anti-people policies.

Recall that the PDP’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, while addressing party supporters in Sokoto State, stated that: “I am a politician, I am a businessman, I am into many things, I am also a farmer and knows exactly what the problem of Nigerians are. I have more than 1,000 cows in my farm. Please, we should not allow someone whose cows have not grown from 150, year in, year out, to come and tell us lies and propaganda again.”

But, Onilu, in a swift response, stated that the opposition party is aggrieved because the system is very difficult to compromise.

His words: “Funny enough, we sympathise with the PDP for saying so. It has become obvious that their anger is because people can no longer steal money the way they did; under 16 years of PDP rule. Is it because Atiku does not have access to compromise the system the way he has been doing that made him the richest Africa on the planet earth without any visible, practical business?

“He is embittered that this government has deprived him of those privileges he has been enjoying. Their position is understandable because the people Atiku and co referred to as people are the elite who are less than zero percent of the population that took all the money to buy and enjoy private jets, which they cannot afford now. It is really a pity for them.

“Which of the policies do they describe as anti people? Is it the several social investment programmes, is it the conditional cash transfer, the road projects that are ongoing that are anti-people policy?”

2019: Sanwo-Olu Replies Agbaje, Says Lagos Not In Bondage

Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has refuted claims made by the the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, that Lagosians are in bondage.

Sanwo-Olu stated this yesterday at the Palace of Akran of Badagry Aholu De Wheno Menu Toyi 1 during a consultative visit to the traditional rulers in the Badagry Division.

The APC guber candidate stressed that Lagosians are free citizens and not enslaved under the APC-led administration.

He said: “Some have started talking about freedom and insinuated that Lagos is in bondage. Unfortunately, we cannot begin to talk about freedom in the 21st century. This is insulting to humanity and the people of Lagos, especially because slavery and bondage were abolished in Badagry several decades ago. When they talk about freedom, we ask them freedom from what? We have had our freedom and everyone in Lagos is free. We have since moved away from the era of slavery, to era of prosperity with deep-seated aspiration for greater Lagos.

“We are aware of the challenges facing the people of Badagry on the rehabilitation of the expressway and we are promising that our administration would immediately hit the ground running and ensure the completion of that important road immediately we assume office by your votes.”

Sanwo-Olu reminded the royal fathers of the economic importance of tourism to the GDP of the state, maintaining that he would ensure a speedy completion of all projects that will improve the quality of lives of the people.

“It is no brainer that once we fix infrastructure, it will automatically jump-start development in the area.

Amosun’s Candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, Dumps APC For APM

A member of the House of Representatives, and preferred governorship candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State, Mr. Adekunle Akinlade, on Thursday formally dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akinlade, who lost the APC gubernatorial ticket to Prince Dapo Abiodun, announced his defection to the Allied People’s Movement (APM) on the floor of the House.

He is billed to contest the 2019 governorship election on the platform of his new party.

In the same vein, the Majority Leader of Ogun State House of Assembly, Yinka Mafe, and the Chief Whip, Idowu Olowofuja, as well as two state legislators defected from the APC to APM.

The other two lawmakers are Tunde Sanusi, representing Obafemi-Owode state constituency, and Ganiyu Oyedeji, representing Ifo II state constituency.

The defection confirmed the exclusive report by New Telegraph on Tuesday that loyalists of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in the Ogun APC will defect this week.

The governor is expected to stay back “tactically” in the APC to work for the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The exit of Amosun’s loyalists was as a result of the alleged refusal of the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC to uphold the candidacy of Akinlade for 2019 governorship election.

2019: Oshiomole Stole The Mandate Of Imo APC, Okorocha Alleges

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has insisted the crisis rocking the state’s chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may be irreconcilable considering various steps he had taken to address the situation.

Recall that Chairman of the reconciliatory committee the APC set up to look into the grievances in Imo State, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, had assured that the first task of their mission, which is to ensure Governor Okorocha remained in the party had been completed, emphasising that the second phase of discussion which he said would be indoors would be favourable to APC members in the state.

However, Okorocha, in his response, said: “There shouldn’t have been crisis in the party because of the affinity of the members, we are like one big family. When we came in 2011, it was a miracle, the who is who in Imo politics were against us but we won that election. We moved from APGA to APC because of the name of President Muhammadu Buhari, which is synonymous with integrity. I am a foundation member of the APC. I suggested the name APC.

“When we started, we were called names, we were made to look like aliens in our state, this is the only state you have elected office holders that are of the APC extraction. Those Oshiomole gave the tickets were not APC members, the worst political injustice in the history of Nigeria happened in Imo.

“The only reason these people are here is because of Buhari, not because they have benefitted. The issue we have is with Adams Oshiomole, he stole the mandate of the people and gave it away for reasons best known to him. The people here are concerned because the name of the person on APC ticket is not the candidate of their choice. The situation at hand has gone beyond what we can manage.”

2019: Oniru, Ojomu Endorse APC Gubernatorial Candidate Sanwo-Olu

The paramount ruler of Iruland, Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru and his Ajiran counterpart, Oba Tijani Adetunji Akinloye have both thrown their weights behind the aspiration of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The monarchs told Sanwo-Olu to make the people of Lagos State the focus his policies when he is elected as the Governor.

They made the statements during separate courtesy visits to their palaces by the APC candidate and his entourage on Monday separately.

‘’People are the cornerstone of electoral success, so don’t abandon them when you get to power. The market women and men are very important so also are the royal fathers. You must always carry them along in your decision making process,’’ Oniru said.

On his part, the Ojomu of Ajiranland, Oba Adetunji Akinloye advised Sanwo-Olu to be fair to all and sundry when elected.

“We will continue to pray for you and your deputy Governorship candidate. With good understanding between the two of you, I believe that Lagosians will be the best for it”, Oba Akinloye said

2019: No Room For PDP In Lagos, Aso Rock – Akiolu

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, yesterday said there is no room for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State.

The monarch stated this while receiving the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at his Iduganran palace in Lagos.

According to the Lagos Monarch, the opposition should not expect votes from Lagos and other states because there is no vacancy at the Government House in Ikeja, the state capital, and Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He said: “The PDP will not rule Lagos because of what they have done to us. I saw Olusegun Obasanjo in Ota and I spoke my mind. They will not even win at the centre… APC government will continue in Lagos and Abuja.”
