Police IG Replies Senator Misau, Says Cars Released Were For Aisha Buhari’s ADC

Following the controversy surrounding alleged release of cars to Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has said that he released a Toyota Sienna and Hiace bus to the aide-de-camp to Aisha Buhari, and not to the President’s wife.

Senator representing the Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Senator Isa Misau, had alleged that the police boss gave Aisha Buhari two jeeps, which according to him is not part of the appropriation.

However, in a statement signed by the police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, the police chief stressed that the two vehicles are not for Aisha’s personal use as alleged by the lawmaker.

“It is within the powers of the IG as stated above that when on January 17, 2017, SP Sani Baba-Inna, the ADC  to the wife of the President requested two vehicles for police personnel for convoy movement and security purposes, two vehicles, Toyota Sienna Bus with Reg. No. NPF 2406D and Toyota Hiace Bus with Reg. No. NPF 3363D, were approved by the Inspector-General of Police to the ADC, wife of the President, SP Sani Baba-Inna, for the purposes requested and not to the person of the wife of the President or for her personal use as alleged by Misau,” the state reads.

APYF Cautions Senator Misau Over Comment On Aisha Buhari

The All Progressives Congress Youth Forum (APYF), Adamawa State Chapter, wishes to caution Senator Issa Hamma Misau, the Distinguished Senator representing Bauchi Central in the National Assembly, from involving the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, in his ongoing feud with the Inspector General of Police.
While Senator Misau has every right to raise allegations of corruption, impropriety and irregularities against the institution of the police and the Inspector General as an individual, the involvement of Mrs. Buhari in this matter is a step taken too far.
This is because the allegation raised against her and her staff border on the personal safety of the wife of the President and Commander in Chief of Nigeria’s Armed Forces. Therefore, this should not be an issue that is up for debate, whether politically or personally.
The APYF stands by the truth and by the ideals of transparent governance that guarantees the safety and well-being of our public office holders, their families, and the general public, consequently, it is our strong belief as the youth wing of the ruling party that all members of our party must adhere to an honorable code of conduct that is devoid of the inclusion of family members of political figures to settle political scores or make sensational points.
On this account, we strongly urge Senator Misau to cease and desist from all pointless allusions and insinuations to the person of Mrs. Buhari.

Aisha Buhari Urges Youth to Use Privilege Wisely and Responsibly

oung people have been acknowledged as the most special breed among the citizens of Nigeria on account of the range of privileges they enjoy, which their forebears never had.

The recognition was made by Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari at a dinner organized for young people to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. She spoke through Wife of the Acting President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo at the Banquet Hall of the State House on 27th June, 2017.

Privileges such as the digital revolution have opened up the world to young people, giving them a voice. Such privilege, she however said is a burden and therefore comes with responsibility. “I therefore call on you to be responsible in the way you apply these privileges” She urged.

Mrs. Osinbajo spoke on the need for young people to understand the importance of the family name, saying that names are honourable and must be protected.

“Both family names and those given to you by your parents are honourable and must be protected, one day; you will expect the same of your kids.” She cautioned that beyond family name is the name of Nigeria, and that must also be upheld. She reiterated that even though young people have a responsibility to own and rule their world, they must do what it takes to leave a good name.

In an address, Senior Special Assistant to the President, Dr. Hajo Sani said Wife of the President organized the event with a view to reminding the youths to sustain the positive values which they have imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan.

Also speaking at the event, Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, encouraged young people to continue to take advantage of the digital revolution. He said it is good that youths can assess development in this country from their doorstep; therefore it is easy for them to get agitated when their expectations are not met. He said change as a process may be slow but sure, painful but fruitful.

He called on them to imbibe peace, describing it as a basic commodity of existence, which should not be sacrificed on the altar of freedom of expression.

Speaking about what government is doing on social investment, Senator Dr. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, said despite the recession happening the world over, Nigeria has taken measures to cushion the effect by introducing programmes like Npower, GEEP, NASSP and others. He advised youths to take advantage of these opportunities and learn skills that can sustain them.

Special Adviser to the President on Media, Mr. Femi Adesina called on youths to be more accommodating, urging them to “keep a seat in your heart for everyone”, while Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media gave an inspirational talk on the importance of Education as a social leveler, and urged youths to embrace it as it will shape not only their thoughts but their utterances and their actions.
