Suspended Delta Govt Workers Beg For Recall
Over 2,000 civil servants suspended by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State in April 2015 are pleading for recall and reinstatement.
The civil servants, who claimed they were employed by the immediate past Uduaghan administration, have faulted the manner in which they were suspended calling it “illegal” and “unfair.”
Addressing journalists on Sunday, Chairman of the sacked civil servants, Mr Obukowho Regha, revealed they were employed on merit.
He also pleaded with the governor to attend to their plight as they were passing through tough times following the action of the state government.
“We have written to the House of Assembly that is supposed to be the mouthpiece for the oppressed and also to check the excesses of the executive arm of government, but to our greatest surprise, nobody dared see anything wrong with the executive, if you dare, you will be suspended, our petition to the house was never read,” he lamented.
