Suspended Adamawa PDP Chairman Turns against Party’s National Leadership
Determined to fight through a supremacy battle rocking the Adamawa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the suspended chairman of the chapter Chief Joel Madaki has turned against the National Working Committee of the PDP.
On Tuesday, Madaki summoned a meeting of the party, attended by his associates and some purported delegates, where he flayed mem?bers of the NWC of the party, saying the Adamawa chapter can operate independently without the national leadership which he accused of “muscling the PDP in Adamawa”.
Madaki, who was removed by the National Working Committee of the PDP last week, told his anointed delegates to “kick against any delegate list that will be brought from the National Secretariat ” adding that he was in possession of the genuine list.
The party chairman is said to be working in cohorts with the state governor, Bala James Ngilari to have him favoured for the December 8 primaries, despite a zoning arrangement ceedig the party to the Central zone.
When the PDP NWC announced the sack of the Adamawa leadership of the party, among the reasons it gave was unauthorised compilation and publication of a purported delegates list by the state executive committee, contrary to the provision of the party’s constitution.
However, speaking to his supporters in Yola yesterday, Madaki dared the NWC’s decision, claiming to be still in control of the party.
While maintaining his leadership of the party, Madaki told the party stakeholders that attended the meeting which consist of? some party executives at the state and local government levels, that he is only recognises the power of the party’s members in the state in deciding his status, saying no other person or group can kick him out of office.
He also assured the people whose names have been published as delegates by the state chapter of the party under his leadership ?that they will be the ones to participate in the primaries, as he urged them to kick? against any delegate list that will be brought from the National Secretariat of the party.
He said his leadership of the party will overcome what he called machinations of some party leaders in Abuja, “in spite of the intimidation”.
