SUPER EAGLES BEAT AMAVUBI’S OF RWANDA BY TWO GOALS
The Super Eagles of Nigeria this evening defeated the Amavubi’s of Rwanda by two to nothing at the U. J. Esuene stadium in calabar. Ike Uche and Ahmed Musa’s goals at either side of the break handed Nigeria the two-goal win and saw them progressed to the final round of the 2013 African Nations Cup qualifiers.
Uche fired in from inside the box after Rwanda failed to deal properly with a corner kick, and Musa hooked in a volley from Uche Kalu’s knockdown.
The first leg of the encounter played in Rwanda had ended with a 0-0 result, thereby giving the Eagles a 2-0 aggregate over their Rwandan counterparts.
Though, the Super Eagles style of play fell short of the expectation side that might be playing big names in football that will play in the final rounds, in the end, the super Eagles held on to progress.
While they kept control for most of the game, their passing still fell below expectation, leaving more room to improve their coordination.
Uche opened the score after just 9 minutes of play until the 86th minutes when Ahmed Musa buried the game with a volley around the Rwandan’s 18 yard box. .
Despite the not too impressive play of the Super Eagles, the Rwanda only fashioned two good opportunities.
