Sultan Calls For National Security Summit, Advocates Freedom To Choose Religion Of Choice

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has called for the convocation of a National Security Summit.
He made the call at the Symposium organised to mark the 10th anniversary of his installation as the Sultan of Sokoto.
The spiritual leader of the Muslim Population in Nigeria directed his request to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who is also present at the occasion.
“I want to ask Mr Vice President, is it possible to have a national security Summit which will be attended by all stakeholder?, the Sultan requested.
He said the summit should comprise of security organisations down to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, traditional rulers and other important stakeholders.
The sultan said the essence of the summit is to find a lasting solution to the security challenges in the country.
The sultan also spoke about accountability and religion freedom.
He said people should be allowed to practice the religionn they desire, advocating that religion should not be a yardstick to how we live our lives in the country.
“There should be freedom of religion. Since we did not create ourselves, we must allow everyone to choose the religion they want for themselves, ” he said.
He called on Nigerians to stop defending corrupt individuals on the basis of their religion or political affiliation, saying what is bad is bad.
“Whoever is bad is bad, whether he is a Christian, a Muslim, APC, PDP. Let every criminal answer their names.”
“We must come together as one irrespective of our religious or political affiliations to fight the evil ones.”
“Political affiliations should not be a yardstick to determining good or bad people.”
On accountability and injustice, the Sultan asked political leaders, especially state governor who are directly responsible to the people to live above board.
“The Governors should check themselves, they are the closest to the people, they know what the people want.”
“I hear a lot of things from the masses, our Governors should do what the common man wants.”
He said society can prosper with diff religious background but can never develop if there is injustice.
