Strike: NANS Gives FG, ASUU 7 Days Ultimatum to Resolve Crisis
“That the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have been on strike for the past 8 weeks is no longer a news. Also, that our ideological, vision-oriented and peace-loving association, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has been accused by some renegade, uninformed and anti-progressive elements of supporting federal government against the yearnings and aspirations of ASUU is no longer a News. The news we have for the entire Nigerians today is that it is time to fight as our peaceful approach to the ongoing industrial action is no longer golden and productive.”
“Just like we have been echoing, the Present day NANS is the number one lover of peace, serenity and tranquility in the world. However, we wish to state explicitly that the peaceful approaches-consultation and consolidation-that we have been applying for the past 8 weeks to get the ongoing industrial action suspended seems not to be productive and golden anymore-meaning that the only option left for us is to mobilize our members to occupy all relevant government formations across the nation of Nigeria-confrontation.”
“In the light of the above, the Yinka Gbadebo led NANS wishes to give the FG and ASUU seven days ultimatum to get the ongoing 8 weeks old industrial action suspended or risk mass actions that will be be a replica of January 2012 mass PROTEST AGAINST the REMOVAL OF PMS SUBSIDY. We promise that this shall be the biggest protest ever witnessed in Nigeria. The streets of Lagos, Abuja, Portharcourt, Kaduna et al shall be completely shut down. All Airports across the nation shall be compelled to close down. Offices of PHCN across the streets of Lagos and Abuja shall be shut down. We also put the men of the Nigeria Police on notice that they should be ready to shoot because we are ready for them. ”
“The only panacea to this protest is for FG and ASUU ensure that the ongoing 8 weeks old strike is suspended within 7 days starting from today.
Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent inevitable!”
Aluta Continua….Victoria and Scientifically ascerta!
