SUPER EAGLES LOST TO PERU BY A LONE GOAL
The super eagles of Nigeria early this morning lost by a lone goal to the Peruvian national team in an international friendly match played in Lima, Peru thus making it two defeats in as many games for the Coach Stephen Keshi tutored side.
Hamburg’s Paolo Guerrero scored the only goal of the game as both sides missed a few chances to strike at the goal.
Meanwhile, players in the Super Eagles team have apologised and promised to make up for the defeat they suffered Thursday morning to the Peruvian national team.
Sunday Mba spoke from Lima on a sports radio programme where he apologised on behalf of his other teammates.
“We are unhappy for failing to get the win against Peru,” Mba said. “We have seen our mistakes and we will make sure we correct them before our next game with Namibia,” the Enyimba forward added.
The Eagles are expected to move straight to their Calabar camp on arrival from Lima as they have a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Namibia’s Brave Warriors at the U. J. Esuene Stadium on Sunday, June 3.
