Southern Kaduna: Who Is Really Safe? By Abdullahi Turawa
The tragedy that struck some part of southern kaduna and it environs in kaduna state in the last two years and again the just recently in this July, which left many innocent souls lost their lives. The senseless killings came week after different ethnic groups in the area signs the peace deal agreement.
Although the joint security operatives and the state government are doing everything possible to see peace rein and maintain in some effected communities in southern kaduna and the state in general. As the result of the recent incident many families have lost their loved ones, homes, farmlands and properties worth thousands of naira were lost.
The traditional leaders, religious and political leadership in the area are preaching for peace and with one another, here, this calling has been in existence for yesteryears, but what went wrong? From the beginning of the religious, political and ethnic crisis in some communities of the southern part of kaduna, commission of inquiry into the crisis are being inaugurated for investigations of what is the major reason that causes this problem.
Whether you are or you belong to Hausa/Fulani, Kataf, Ninzom, Bajju etc and other tribes this people lived together for generations, “most of them know no place as their home except southern part of the state, and many among them knows that the attackers are not strangers. I pray they suprise devil and embrace peace and follow the rule of law.
It is not only the citizens of the community must abide by it, the traditional rulers, political dons, religious leaders and their agents too have corresponding obligations and duties on their part to respect the rule of law as it affects the inherent rights of individuals.
Finally, many commission of inquiry have been established so many times, the recommendations are hardly implemented even the culprits of the conflict are prima-facie, they are not punished, this time i do hope “BABU SANI BABU SABO” in establishing peace, The government in implementing laws should be free from kingship, friendship and course class-mateship.
Long live kaduna state.
