Senator Okowa Defeats Gov Uduaghan’s Favoured Candidates in Delta PDP Guber Primary
Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the National Assembly has defeated the favoured Candidates of the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Anthony Obuh and Dave Edevbie.
The Senate committee chairman on health defeated the two aspirants having polled 406 votes to emerged victorious at the primary election held in Asaba.
Governor Uduaghan was believed to be backing Anthony Obuh to secure the ticket of the party, but recent development forced to governor to turn his back on Obuh and switched support for Edevbie.
Just few days ago, the governor and other stakeholders met with a powerful group in the state, the urhobo Progressives Union (UPU), where Edevbie was adopted as the preferred candidate for the PDP ticket.
But as events turned out in the election, the governor could not muster the political might to secure the ticket for his anointed candidate.
Delegates from 25 Local Government Areas in the state participated in the primary election
