Senate Suspends Ex-Leader, Ali Ndume For 6 Months
Nigerian Senate on Wednesday suspended former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume for six months.
This followed the recommendation of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
Ndume, was found wanting of bringing Senate President Bukola Saraki, Senator Dino Melaye and the institution of the Senate to unbearable disrepute.
The Ethics and Privileges Committee had recommended that Ndume be suspended for 181sitting days for bringing unfounded and unverified allegations against the Senate President and Senator Dino Melaye.
But during debate on the report, many Senators pleaded that the suspension be reduced to six months instead of 181 sitting days.
Nigerian Senate sits at plenary only three days in a week.
Senator Ali Ndume has been very critical of the senate leadership and key allies of the Senate President since his removal as Leader some months ago.
