Security Raid In Lagos: 191 Illegal Aliens Arrested, Handed Over To Immigration
No less than 191 illegal aliens have been arrested in Lagos and handed over to the State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service as security agencies step up the hunt for criminals and other miscreants in the State.
The number is part of the hundreds of loafers and people of questionable character so far rounded up in the on-going raid across the State by security agencies to secure the State and make it safe for law-abiding citizens and visitors.
Disclosing this to newsmen Wednesday after the State Security Council Meeting chaired by the State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), at the State House, Marina, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Abubakar Manko, said the illegal aliens were fished out from the hundreds of suspected criminals so far arrested by security agents in the on-going raid across the State adding that profiling is still ongoing to identify the others.
According to Manko, who said the raid was being carried out by a combined team of all the security agencies in the State, “We had so many people arrested and we are still profiling them. Already, we have been able to identify about 191 illegal aliens that have been handed over to Immigration Service”.
The Police boss, who said the raid and profiling are on-going, promised to continue to brief newsmen on the progress made as the exercise gathers momentum in the coming weeks.
He urged all Lagosians to be vigilant and report any strange faces or objects in their neighbourhood to the security agencies, pointing out that it is important for every Lagosian to know his or her neighbours in their community in order to be able to identify those who are strangers.
