Saraki Decries Low Level Of Women Participation In Politics
Senate President Bukola Saraki has decried the low level of women participation in the nation’s governance since 1999.
Saraki expressed this when he hosted a delegation of Conference of Nigeria Female Parliamentarians (CONFEPA) at the National Assembly Complex on Wednesday.
According to him, gender participation in politics was vital to the democratic growth of any nation.
He noted that the male politicians “were not doing enough in the inclusion of women in polices implementation and governance, assuring the women that the tide would change in 2019. “We must change and turn the tide. We cannot continue with this low level of women participation. We must do something about it,” he said.
The president of the senate further called for all hands to be on deck to make 2019 general election a difference. He commended their efforts as female parliamentarians, describing them as “shining stars” to the present and future generation.
