The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has awarded a foreign scholarship for two students of Kwara descent who bagged First Class in their undergraduate studies.
The two students were selected from among the 73 First Class Graduates who were hosted to a sumptuous dinner by the Senate President sometimes in December, 2016.
This foreign scholarship is inspite of the sum of N500,000 each of the 73 scholars were awarded by the Senate President, who is also the Senator representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
Abdulkadir Habebulah, a graduate of Euronautic Engineering from the Kwara State University (KWASU) and Aliyu Ajoke Muinat, a graduate of Chemistry from the University of Ilorin are the two Chinese-bound scholars from Kwara state.
Represented by Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, the Senate President charged the two scholars to give a good account of themselves in the foreign lands. He said that the fact that it’s only the two of them that were chosen among the 73 is a testament to the quality of their brains and their certificates. He therefore urged them to be of best behaviours anywhere they find themselves in the world.
Responding, one of the two beneficiaries, Habebulah said the scholarship came to him as a surprise. He therefore commended the Senate President for giving him and his colleague the privilege of studying abroad. He also promised not to disappoint the confidence reposed in them.
The brief ceremony which held at the APC secretariat in Ilorin saw the students receive their admission letters and other relevant documents.
