Sanusi’s Appointment: Sultan, Emirs May Wade into Kano Crisis
Following the crisis that erupted after the announcement of Mallam Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, may lead other prominent northern emirs, religi leaders, traditional rulers, politicians and businessmen to douse the tension the new appointment is currently causing.
According to findings, notable emirs in the north were not happy with the way politics and other negative dimension were being read to the appointment of the new Emir of Kano, a situation they believed could have a negative implication on the respect given to the exalted position of the emirship from the North.
The venue of the meeting, the source said, may be a neutral ground, with Kaduna, regarded as the administrative centre of the North, top on the list.
