Rumblings in Ido/Osi APC over party’s registration fund, Deputy Speaker Orisalade, Odetola fingered
By Ayeleso Olorunyomi
APC faithfuls in Ido/Osi Local Government area of Ekiti State are currently wallowing in the web of horse-trading despite the fact that governorship elections which they must win to remain in saddle of governance has started gathering momentum in the State.
Our correspondent gathered that Ido/Osi APC members are kicking and threatening warfare against their leaders over the way some of them including the Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Barrister Adetunji Orisalade and the Special Adviser to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Deputy Governor’s Office, Bashorun Babatunde Odetola conspired against their welfare to defraud them by mismanaging their common wealth.
Orisalade hails from Ilogbo-Ekiti while Otedola is from Osi-Ekiti.
The obvious cause of the brouhaha, hullabaloo and furore creating palpable tension amongst Ido/Osi APC members is the sum of N1.1million sent to them for mobilization during the last Voters’ registration in the state. Ido/Osi Local Government has 11 wards. According to a source who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity, the cash was expected to be shared to each ward at N100, 000 but what they got was far from what was sent to them.
“We shall pursue this to a logical conclusion. Imagine Leaders that are supposed to be complementing the efforts of Governor Fayemi are defrauding the governor at a time they should be encouraging him. We were told that the amount sent to us by the Governor during the voters’ registration exercise was N1.1m; that is, each ward was to get N100, 000 but what they delivered was not up to N800, 000. I want to assure you that we shall expose these people. To be categorical, Orisalade and Odetola were the culprits behind these dastard act” an APC chieftain from Ido/Ekiti told our Correspondent on phone.
Meanwhile, when probed further, we learnt that N1.1m was indeed sent to APC members in Ido/Osi. We reliably gathered that only Osi-Ekiti ward received the fund as budgeted.
The full list of how the fund was shared goes as thus:
Ifaki 1: N55, 000, Ifaki 2: N57, 000, Usi: N90, 000, Ilogbo: N85, 000, Osi: N100, 000, Orin/Ora: 90, 000, Aaye/Ifisin/Igbole: 55, 000, Ayetoro: 1: N40, 000, Ayetoro 2: N60, 000, Ido 1: N95, 000, Ido 11: N60, 000.
The sum of N787, 000 was disbursed out of the total of N1.1million released. A party chieftain from Ayetoro-Ekiti anonymously revealed to our correspondent that the money was unilaterally disbursed by Orisalade and Odetola in connivance with Hon. Olofinbiyi, the party chairman in the local government.
When we Inquisitively probed further by contacting Orisalade and Otedola for their own side of the story, calls put to their numbers were not picked and text messages sent their phones have not been replied as at the time of filing this report.
