All Round Development Of Okigwe Zone My Priority, Says Uwajumogu
The Speaker Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has said that massive industrialization, agriculture, youth and women empowerment and sustainable economic development will be his priority if elected to represent the Zone in the forthcoming Senatorial election.
Uwajumogu spoke over the weekend when he received blessings from the apex leaders of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Okigwe local government council of traditional ruler, Obowo council of traditional rulers and other leaders from the area. At each stop, Uwajumogu was blessed and given the nod to run for the Senate position of the area, while he promised to institute a welfare package for the elderly, that will care for Okigwe senior citizens aged 55 and above.
Addressing a mammoth crowd that thronged out to receive him at Okigwe, Ehime Mbano and Obowo local government areas, the Speaker, pledged to build on the ‘’achievements of the present administration ‘’, maintaining that, in the course of trying to identify the problems of the Zone, he visited every nook and cranny of the area which helped him to interact with various stakeholders, youth groups and women groups, adding that he had developed an Industrialization, Agricultural, Educational, Infrastructural, youth and women empowerment blueprint that will advance the development of Okigwe people.
He said he had consulted far and wide before offering himself to serve Okigwe zone, an outcome which he described as being positive.
Uwajumogu, further restated that he has not started campaigning because the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) had not giving the go –ahead and thanked the various community and party leaders for adopting him as their sole candidate.
In his speech, the Director General, Benjamin Uwajumogu Campaign Organization, (BUCO) Chief George Maduewesi, (Onapuruagu) maintained that Uwajumogu, remained the best saleable candidate the All Progressives Congress, APC, has to achieve victory in the forthcoming polls and stressed that his track records as the Speaker of the state Assembly were eloquent testimony of his sincerity to serve Okigwe people.
Also contributing, the state Commissioner for Finance, Deacon Chike Okafor, stated that with the enormous endorsements and support the Speaker had garnered in all the local governments of the zone, it was clear that Uwajumogu’s candidacy was a divine mandate which every lover of Okigwe zone must key into to guarantee its success.
He maintained that the timely rescue of the zone which the Speaker has been championing was a good sign that better things for the zone lies ahead, while adding that the acceptability of the Speaker by all and sundry in the zone would spur him into declaring for the representation of Okigwe South at the federal House of Representatives.
Responding, some of the stakeholders who barred their minds commended the Speaker for his good antecedents and humanism which has sustained the poorest of the poor and in stirring the affairs of the state House of Assembly within three years, pointing out that such feat necessitated his adoption by the people to represent them at the senate.
