Reducing the Cost of Governance II By Adnan Mukhtar Adam
In his effort to reduce the cost of governance in kano Governor Ganduje has cautioned his media aides to stop publicizing new appointments as it is opening door for the general public to criticize his unnecessary appointments, despite this agenda in place the governor appointed a senior special assistant on traditional medicine and special assistant on grassroot after having an adviser on mobilization, while i commend that of traditional medicine because of the unprofessional conduct of some herbalist in the state, the government need an eye there, that will help in saving lives by exposing fake herbalist.
Another disappointing appointment is senior special assistant on voluntary organizations despite having a special adviser on non governmental organizations NGO’s, can anyone here differentiate voluntary organizations and NGO’s for me? Special adviser on rural development after having a Honourable commissioner for water resources and rural development.
An SSA was also appointed on agriculture after having a Honourable Commissioner for agriculture and natural resources, Managing Director of kano agricultural supply agency and managing director of kasco and why SSA on agriculture for God sake! Does he really mean this agenda of reducing cost of governance???
The Governor in sticking to this agenda organized a colourful ceremony to mark the 2016 new year together with an award dinner for ‘Northywood’ musicians association at coronation Hall which naira was seen flowing on the ground as if we are not in a state grappling with debts. And all for the purpose of celebration? some government officials were seen dancing and even donating huge amounts of money as part of their contribution to the association despite being dabbling with huge debts if you like liabilities, the video is going round on Facebook, I will find time to share it with you. Is this how to reduce the cost of governance?
