Questionable Omisore Propelling an Inordinate Ambition To Raze Osun By Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye
Iyioola Ajani Omisore, a gregarious son of Ile/Ife, the cradle of Yoruba race, for his many controversies, needs no much introduction to those in the political firmament in the nation of Nigeria. However, for the sake of those outside the constituency of where those who gets what, when and how domiciles, i consider it necessary and imperative to, before exploding on Omisore’s ambition to rule Osun, further introduce him to the general public.
Omisore was born in Ile Ife, Osun state, on 15 September 1957 into a royal family line of the people of Ile-Ife, the cradle of the Yoruba race. He is the grandson of Lowa Omisore and his father is Oba David Olajide Omsiore of Ayepe, Olode, Ile-Ife. Omisore is also the grandson of the Late Olufewara Kabiyesi Oba Titus Adetoba of the Oseganderuku ruling house in Ifewara where his mother, Princess Emila Adejola ruled as Regent until her death in 2006.
Educationally, Omisore had his primary education at the SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic School in Ile-Ife and his secondary education at St. John Grammar School Ile Ife Osun State from 1972 – 1977. He later attended Technical College, Owo, now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, RUGIPO, Owo in Ondo State.
Without being cruel, the above was the last we heard of Omisore’s educational career until January 2013 when he claimed to have completed and awarded a Doctorate Degree by the International School of Management in Paris, France.
Politically, Between 1999 and 2002, Omisore was a Deputy Governor in Osun State, and afterwards, contested while being detained at Agodi Prison, Ibadan for the murderer of the former Anthoney General of Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige and won a seat to the Senate and served at the Upper Chamber between 2003 and 2011.
Having further introduce Omisore to the public, it is without much ado that i go straight to the highlight of my piece.
Sometime last year, the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led government of the state of Osun rehabilitated an abandoned piece of land in Osogbo, the state capital and name it FREEDOM PARK. The space was initially being used as a park by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC. Just few weeks after the park was refurbished and opened for public use, the South African anti-aphatied hero, Nelson Mandela died. As an advocate of the thoughts and ideologies of Mandela, Aregbesola re-named the park “Mandela Freedom Park”. Then, the people of the state were happy with the decision of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
However, last week, my radar reliably gathered that Iyiola Omisore and his allies, ridiculously and disrespectfully informed Ogbeni Aregbesola, the Governor of the State of Osun to stop the further use of the well-rehabilitated freedom park because it belongs to his PDP led federal government. Omisore, after waking up from its slumber, ordered Aregbesola to cease using the freedom park after being metamorphosed from a criminal den to a tourist centre.
As a character embedded with rationality, i won’t strive much on the allies of Omisore but on the Omisore himself.
In democracy, the ultimate goal of every ambitious politicians has consistently been to better the lots of the people, respect their dignity, protect their rights and lives. In democracy, the ultimate sovereignty are the people! People willingly elects representatives. However, the notion of Omisore, the self-acclaimed hope of the people’s democratic party, PDP in Osun, is apparently different. His ambition to govern Osun seems to be a do or die affair and not to the decision of the people. To Omisore, the development of Osun is inconsequential in the pursuit of his seemingly inordinate ambition. As things stands today, for Osun to be Conflagrazed for Omisore to be Governor, without being immodest, is his desire.
Again, i wonder what could have prompted Omisore who claimed to have bagged Bachelor and Master degrees in England and a Doctorate Degree in France to utter such an affirmation leading to his cronies in Abuja making move against Governor Aregbesola and the people of Osun that he’s aspiring to lead, to stop the freedom park abandoned by his PDP government and rehabilitated by the party he’s desperately aspiring to depose. It is on this note that I state that in exercising of my right to liberty, declare that the intimidating educational vitae of Omisore is doubtful and questionable. I opined in this direction because no man with such an exposure and educational experience will stood so low like Omisore as shamefully done.
Compatriots, without being libelous, i quickly take you to the contradictory and suspicious Wikipedia page of Senator Iyioola Omisore. In the said page, Omisore, a father of four, laid claim to the underneath as his educational feats:
“He had his primary education at the SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic School in Ile-Ife and his secondary education at St. John Grammar School Ile Ife Osun State from 1972 – 1977, where he excelled.”
“He later attended Federal Polytechnic Owo in Ondo State Nigeria. He later sat for and passed his Full Technological Certificate Examinations at the Technology College, Reading UK, and obtained a diploma Certificate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.”
“He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Power and Machines from Brunnel University Uxbridge, United Kingdom, a postgraduate Certificate in Building service and Engineering Management and a Master of Science Degree in Building Services from the same University.”
“Later, he went to Brunel University, Uxbridge, UK where he earned a Post Graduate Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and an M.Sc degree in Building Services Engineering. At present, the senator holds a Ph.D in Infrastructure Finance from the International School of Management, Paris, France and he is currently undergoing his DBA programme at the same institution. In his pursuit of excellence, the Senator who is equally a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, England and Wales underwent several courses in different high profile institutions.”
“He did the Advanced Budgeting Course at the George Town University, Washington DC, USA; the Appropriations and Public Finance Course at the ABS Academy, Athens, Greece; the Advanced Leadership Course at the University of Carolina; The Innovation and Leadership Course at the West London College; the Public Finance Course at the Harvard University and the Aid Effectiveness and Donour Harmonization Course at the Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gGmbH, Germany.”
As earlier affirmed, the last time people heard of Omisore schooling in Nigeria was when he was at Technical College, Owo, now RUGIPO. But today, he’s a PhD holder. However, investigation has revealed that the academic claims and the resume of Omisore in his wikipedia page are questionable and doubtful.
Firstly, Omisore, in his wikipedia page, only mentioned the time and date he had his primary, secondary and technical education but failed to inform the general public of the date, time and the year he attended Brunnel University Uxbridge, United Kingdom, Technology College, Reading UK and the International School of Management, Paris, France and the time, date and year he bagged the Fellowship of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, England and Wales.
Furthermore, Omisore, in his wikipedia page, laid claim to the following:
“In January 2013, he completed and was awarded a Doctorate Degree by the International School of Management in Paris. He majored in Procurement, Taxation, Corporate Governance, Infrastructure finance and Public Private Partnerships. The concept of Public Private Partnerships is a key part of the strategy that has been successfully used to provide affordable infrastructure that meets public needs. The concept combines the best capabilities of the Public and Private sectors for mutual benefit.”
With the above, i wish to ask Omisore the time, date and year he enrolled for his Doctorate Degree? This is necessary because Omsiore held full-time public service from May 1999 to June 2011. He was also in prison for about 15 Months in between. Now, when did Omisore did his course work? When did he do his research? When did he defend his thesis? Who was his supervisor? When did Omisore travel to France to write his course work and defend his thesis? How many year did he spend at the International School Of Management, Paris before he was awarded Doctorate Degree?
More also, Omisore, in his Wikipedia page, claimed to be a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN. I inquisitively implore Omisore to assist the good people of Osun State by publishing the time, date and year he was inducted into COREN.
Furthermore, apart from his twice controversial victories as a senator, it is necessary i write a little about the questionable representation of Omisore while in National Assembly. However, to avoid making this piece too voluminous, i shall limit my investigative and inquisitive analysis on the idiosyncrasies of Omisore to what he claimed in his Wikipedia page, were his giant strides in the infrastructural sector while in National Assembly.
Omisore, in a grand move to coax and wheedle the general public, claimed through his wikipedia page to have recorded the following feats while serving as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
(1) Dualisation of Ijebu Ode-Ibadan road,
(2) Dualisation of Ondo-Akure road,
(3) Dualisation of Ore-Ondo road,
(4) Dualisation of Ore-Ipele-Lokoja,
(5) Dualisation of Abuja-Lokoja-Okene,
(6) Dualisation of Akure-Ado Ekiti,
(7) Dualisation of Ado-Ifaki,
((8)Dualisation of Aramoko-Ado-Ijero and
(9) Dualisation of Gbongan-Sekona-Osogbo road.
Country men and women, going by the available evidence before me, i wish to declare the above claims of Omisore as totally fallacious, morally insignificant and legally punishable. The dualisation of Ado-Ifaki-Ekiti road is a project being funded by the government of Ekiti State with the sum of N11.3billion. It was initially awarded by the Segun Oni led administration for the sum of N7billion before the incumbent Kayode Fayemi government renewed the contract in 2012. The Construction of the road is still in progress.
Also, as i write, Ondo-Akure road has not been dualised, Ore-Ondo road is still in disarray, Ore-Ipele-Lokoja road has not been dualised, Akure-Ado-road is still in moribund, Aramoko-Ado-Ijero road has not been dualised, the Dualisation of Gbogan-Osogbo road is being done by Osun state Government, the one carriage Aramoko-Ado-Ijero road was rehabilitated by the fayemi led administration of Ekiti State. The road was rehabilitated after the exit of Omisore from National Assembly. Ore-Ondo road is still where it was before Omisore got to National Assembly. Ijebu-ode-Ibadan road is still where it was before Omisore was controversially elected a senator.
Consequently, Country people, i wish to ask that where lies Omisore’s integrity? Where did he get his rumored bank in Ghana? Why not in Nigeria? Why are Omisore’s feats always being questioned? Why are Adenuga’s feats not being questioned? Why are Dangote’s giant strides not being doubted? When would Omisore tell the public his own Side of the story that every Federal government agencies do grease his seemingly sleaze -ridden pocket annually with the sum of N500million while serving as the Chairman, Senate Committee on appropriation?
Additionally, If Omisore succeed in his plan to set Osun on fire as he has been threatening, who are the people he’s desperately coming to govern? With the controversial statement credited to Omisore ceasing Aregbesola and his supporters from using Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, refurbished and rehabilitated by the state government, it is very germane I state unambiguously that Osun people, most essentially the supporters of aaregbesola must be vigilant and been search light on Omisore, a character known for controversies.
