Akwa-Ibom-Youths of Ibiono Local Government Area numbering over 2,000 have protested the non-release of complete election materials including result sheets for the governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The youths who took their protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission secretariat at Oko-Ita, the Ibiono Ibom local government headquarters, urged the commission to nullify the elections in the area and equally sanction the electoral officers who aided the suspected hijack of the materials by agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The youths particularly accused the Senator -Elect for UYO Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert of hijacking the materials.
The serving Senator for Uyo, Senator Ita Enang also lamented the suspected hijack of electoral materials and called on the electoral umpires to do something urgently about it to prevent repulsive consequences from the irate youths and political stakeholders of Ibiono.
But the Senator-Elect, Obong Bassey Albert denied being a party to the hijack of electoral materials just as he deplored the resort to violence by youths of the area.
Albert therefore called on security officers to mobilize their men to the boiling areas to bring normalcy to the area and ensure peaceful conduct of the elections.
He also urged the youths to remain calm assuring that INEC would address the situation .
