Privatisation Council Approves Successful Bidders for Power Generation and Distribution Companies
The National Council on Privatisation (NCP) has approved 21 companies who had earlier submitted technical bid for eleven power distribution companies under the programme of unbundling the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to proceed for the financial bid state of the privatisation programme.
The decision approving the companies for the financial bid stage was carried out in the 3rd meeting of the council for 2012, which was held on the Tuesday, September 18th.
Some of the bidders who successfully scaled the hurdle include Honey well energy resources international limited, Oando consortium, Rockson engineering and West power and gas.
However, none of the two bids received for Kaduna Distribution Company is technically qualified. Therefore, the BPE will invite fresh bids from all the pre-qualified bidders, in accordance with “Plan B” in respect of the privatisation of any unsold successor company — that is, to invite fresh bids from all the shortlisted bidders that paid the required $20,000 fee for the bid documents.
Similarly, the Privatisation council also approved successful companies to participate in the financial bid opening for power generation companies. Aside the Afam generation plant which has no successful bidder, all the other generating companies have companies shortlisted to take participate in the bid.
The financial bid opening for the power generation company will be held on September 25, while that of the distribution company will hold October 10.
