Press Statement: NANS President Denies Being Impeached
The National Association of Nigerian Student (NANS) wishes to inform the general public to disregard the concocted publication heralded by a United States based online medium, Sahara Reporters that Yinka Gbadebo has been impeached as its President.
For the sake of the uninformed general public, we wish to state unequivocally that nothing of such ever happened. It was a paid publication commissioned by Dr. Issa Fagge, the President of the Academic Staff Union of University(ASUU) and Prince Miaphen, the comrade that Yinka Gbadebo defeated to become NANS President.
We also wish to state that as we write, NANS does not have Senate president not to talk of holding a senate sitting. The last NANS Senate sitting took place in June aftermath of the death of its President, Donald Unakougwu. Let it also be clearly stated that no meeting of NANS took place in Delta State on September 7th when they claimed Yinka Gabdebo was impeached, and most importantly, there’s no current NANS senator amongst the signatories of the fake press statement published by sahara reporters. They are all fake Senators! They are impostors. There’s no Students’ Union President (SUG) among them.
In addition, we wish to state that NANS holds sitting(s) in campuses and not in hotel where they claimed the non-existing sitting took place. …And by the way, Which SUG President hosted the sitting in Delta? Which Campus hosted the sitting? None!
We are also using this medium to inform the general public that our Vice-President, Jubril Ahmed whom they claimed has taken over the insignia of Presidential Power of NAN’S has disowned the anti-progressive agents of ASUU President via his facebook page.
We declare ASUU President Issa Fagge a non-grata. Nigerian Students declare him an inconsequential personality and a man of no integrity for paying those whom Yinka Gbadebo defeated to become President to sign press statement declaring him impeached unwarrantedly and
without justification. We challenge Dr. fagge to deny that he is not presently using the ongoing ASUU strike to negotiate for him to be appointed as a Director General of a Federal Government Agency!
We call on the Nigeria Police and State Security Service (SSS) to as a matter of national urgency, arrest and prosecute Dr. Issa Fagge for impersonation and forgery.
We charge Sahara Reporters to be professional in it’s report. Sahara Reporters, being a responsible media organization ought to have contacted us for our own side of the story before going to the press. We urge our leader, Omoyele Sowore not to allow its organization to be used by renegades and reactionaries that are insensitive to the plight of Nigerian Students.
Yinka Gbadebo is presently in Lagos State holding meeting with some Students’ Union leaders in South West (Zone D) in preparation for a “mother of all mass action” should Incase ASUU and FG fail to get the ongoing strike suspended before this week runs out. the Zone D leaders were led to the meeting by its Deputy Coordinator, Adetola Ayantunga.
In Aluta we dine and wine!
Amangla Awetu! nothing shall discourage us!
Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye,
for: Yinka Gbadebo, President, National Association Nigerian Students (NAN’S).
