Press Statement: NANS Never Supported FG Against ASUU
My attention has been drawn to the blasphemous, sacrilegious, profane and wicked press statement signed by three out of the 15 executive members of our ideological and vision oriented association where they accused my honourable office of supporting the Federal Government against the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in relation to the ongoing five weeks old industrial action embarked on by ASUU.
For the sake of clarity, I wish to state categorically that I never supported any of them. I was neutral, impartial, unbiased and dispassionate in my affirmation. That i chastised ASUU national leaders for not consulting us when they were planning for the ongoing strike should not be misinterpreted. I believe we are part of the stakeholders in the educational sector of our country, Nigeria.
May I also remind ASUU national leaders that their branch in Adamawa State University has pulled out of the ongoing industrial action with the same excuse that they were not carried along when the strike was being planned.
As per the three of my executive members that blasphemously accused me of taking side, I wish to assert with all sense of responsibility that they are entitled to their opinion. I will only urge them not to allow themselves to be used by anti-progressive forces. We still have a long way to go. We are moving, and we shall win by God’s grace. We shall triumph. Three out of the fifteen executive members cannot stop us from moving. Judas sold Jesus while Peter denied him; therefore, we are not too bothered about their harangue.
And for the avoidance of doubt, I wish implore the general public to get the Punch Newspaper of July 10th for the excerpt of the press conference we addressed when the ongoing strike clocked one week, and judge whether the allegation that i supported FG against ASUU was real or false. The news was published with the headline “NANS slams FG, lecturers over varsities, polys strike”
Aluta Continua….Victoria Ascreta!
Long Live NANS!
Long Live ASUU!!
Long live Federal republic of Nigeria!!!
