President Jonathan’s Name Removed from List of Richest African Presidents
The name of President Goodluck Jonathan has been removed from the list of the richest African presidents in 2004, published by a United States based publication, Richest Lifestyles a few days ago.
The publication had named President Jonathan alongside, King Mswathi III of Swaziland as the 6th richest African presidents with a net worth of $100 million (about N16.5 billion).
But the president in his reaction on Wednesday, condemned the report describing it as another attempt to unjustifiably portray him as a corrupt leader.
In a statement by the a presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, the President said the report was flawed and without basis described. He therefore demands a retraction of the “libellous” publication and an apology, vowing to institute a legal action within and outside Nigeria.
Apparently heeding to the threat by the president, his name was seen when we visited the site on Thursday.
The spot President Jonathan’s name was initially written simply says “6=) – Net Worth: This article has been removed. The net worth was evaluated by Celebrity Net Worth”
No explanation was given for the decision, indicating that the publication may not have relied on any fact when it placed President Jonathan in the 6th position of the list of 9 richest presidents in Africa.
