President Jonathan sacks Political Adviser, Ahmed Gulak
President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, with immediate effect, presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, has said.
The president in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Reuben Abati thanked Mr. Gulak for his services to the present administration and wishing him success in his future endeavors.
“A replacement for Alhaji Gulak will be announced in due course,” Mr. Abati said.
Although no reason was given for the sack, sources say it may not be unconnected with the recent spate between Gulak and Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa-Ibom State and the state’s chapter of PDP.
The Akwa-Ibom state PDP had few days ago ago warned Gulak to desist from interfering in the affairs of the state.
The party criticised Mr. Gulak’s visit “to inaugurate a sectional and unknown Support Group in favour of our dear President without bothering to pay any courtesies to the state leadership of the party.”
It advised President Jonathan to “caution his aides, who are bent on causing disaffection in various states of the federation, purporting to act on behalf of the Villa and further advised Alhaji Gulak to “sort out PDP problems in Adamawa and deliver the state to the President before rushing to safe territories like the South-South Nigeria where President Jonathan requires no campaign.”
