President Jonathan Replies Boko Haram, Says He Won’t Resign
The call by Abubakar Shekau, the leader of Boko Haram sect on President Goodluck Jonathan to resign and embrace Islam as a pre condition for ceasefire has met a brick wall as the President has said he won’t resign or accept Islam as demanded by sect.
The President who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr Rueben Abati on Sunday described the call as “rude and a mere blackmail.”
“The President cannot be intimidated by any group or individual. The President will never resign. He has the mandate of Nigerians to serve his father land and nobody should imagine that he will succumb to blackmail,” Abati told journalists in Abuja.
It would be recalled that the leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect has in a latest video released over the weekend demand that President Jonathan must resign and accept Islam before there can be peace in the country.
