President Buhari Hold Secret Meeting For Second Day
President Muhammadu Buhari has for the second time in two days held a secret meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, government sources said.
The first meeting held on Tuesday night, the outcome of which is believed to be the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke..
One official who is at the meeting said. “It was a follow up to last night’s private discussions.”
It was gathered that the Presidency had discussed the recent recovery of $43 Million by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, during the meeting on Tuesday.
Following to the meeting, the President yesterday suspended the SGF and ordered investigation into the allegations of violations of law and due process made against him in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
The President also directed the suspension of the Director General of the NIA, Ambassador Ayo Oke, pending the outcome of the investigation into the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.
