Presidency Refutes Report of Cancelled Trip to Chibok, Say No Visit was Announced
The Presidency has refuted reports in the media that a planned trip by President Goodluck Jonathan to Chibok town, where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted one month ago has been cancelled.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity who took to his twitter handle moments ago said the President could not have cancelled a trip he never planned to embark on in the first place.
According to the tweet by Abati, he said ” Every trip by the President is usually pre-announced. The Presidency did not at any time announce a trip to Chibok today. Ignore rumours.”
He added that: “The statement issued by my office yesterday indicated very clearly that the President is scheduled to travel to Paris today.”
“It is therefore wrong and malicious to allege that a non-existent trip has been cancelled,” Abati stated.
