Police Captures Prime Suspect in Okene Deeper Life Church Murder, Recovers Missing Army Rifle
Abdulmannan Obadeki, Prime suspect of the two attacks launched about a fortnight ago in Okene, Kogi state where 20 members of Deeper Life Bible Church and four other person including two soldiers were killed at Okene Central Mosque have been arrested by the police in the state.
Obadaki, whom Police Source said is a 32 years old man with residential address given as number 8 Lafia Street, Okene and hails from the Ozuka clan in Adavi local government area, was nabbed at a farm settlement in Ulowo area of Owo in Ondo state. He was said to have sustained fatal injuries in an alleged exchange of fire between the suspect and a team of policemen who discovered him hiding behind banana leaves while combing the farm settlement for him in an operation reportedly led by the Kogi state deputy commissioner of police, Zanna Mohammed.
The state police commissioner, Mohammed Musa Katsina who confirmed the arrest of the suspect said after attacking the church, the assailants fled the state only to come to reinforce preparatory to launching another attack especially during Eid- el- filtr celebration last Sunday.
“They planned the two attacks on the same day. Three persons each were detailed to attack the church and the soldier respectively. The
pastor was the target of the attack but because of confusion as they entered the church they were shooting sporadically to make sure they hit their target”, he said.
He explained that two bomb factories have been discovered at Okene and Okehi local government areas of the state; one at an estate which served as factory known as Limit Nigeria Ltd, makers of electricity poles, in Okene, and the other at Eyika-Adagu in Okehi local government area. Some of the items recovered include three rocket launchers, police bullet proof jackets and AK 47 riffles.
Some of the riffles already recovered include the two military type AK 47 with serial number BH 574 and KJ 19100 taken by the assailants from the two soldiers killed at Okene central mosque, a day after the Deeper Life church members were attacked.
