Why Police Attacked APC Supporters in Ado-Ekiti – PDP
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the attack carried out by the police against members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti earlier today was to protect its members from the rampage of the APC mob.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the national publicity secretary of the party, Olisah Metuh in a telephone conversion, said that members of the PDP who were returning from yesterday’s massive rally headlined by President Goodluck came under attack from members of the APC.
He said the action therefore necessitated police intervention to protect party members subjected to mob attack from the rival party.
Mr. Metuh promised to provide evidence of the attack on PDP members but had not done so as at the time of publishing this report, Sahara Reporters said.
The governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and their supporters came under the attack of the police as the APC staged a street rally in Ado-Ekiti.
Two APC supporters were said to have died in the attack, while several others sustained injuries.
