I Have No Plans To Dump APC – Okorocha
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has reacted to report in one of the national dailies that he is planning to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor said he has no such plan.
A press statement signed by the senior special assistant on media to the governor, Sam Onwuemeodo, described the report as misleading and false, saying that the governor maintains a smooth relationship with the APC contrary to the report of a soured relationship .
Onwuemeodo said the registration exercise of the APC suggested that the party would pull surprises during the forth coming 2015 general elections in the country.
The media aide described Governor Okorocha as a colossus in Imo politics with what he has been able to achieve as governor, which, he said, has prompted his opponents in the state to resort to cheap blackmail.
He wondered what could be so attractive in PDP, PPA and APGA that would prompt Okorocha to dump his party, APC, in quest of his political ambition.
Okorocha, he maintained, would continue to play a pivot role in the leadership of APC and was not thinking of abandoning the party.
“It is important to note that Governor Okorocha has become a very attractive figure in Nigeria politics, South East politics and Imo politics today, and those threatened by such enviable personality have been responsible for all these gossips against the Imo governor.
“The truth of the matter is that Governor Okorocha cannot leave APC for any reason, with a lot of people across the nation looking up to him in APC.
“He cannot contemplate joining PDP, PPA, and APGA put together. So, that report is fictitious and frivolous,” he said.
