The Defence Headquarters confirmed our report a day after we reported the incidence and added that the An Alpha Jet (NAF 466) belonging to the Nigerian Air Force had two pilots onboard.
Two days after we exclusively reported about the missing aircraft, we also reported that its wreckage has been found by some villagers in Lala Local Govt of Adamawa State, and appears to have been brought down by the Boko Haram sect.
The Airforce has since then been silent on the fate of the aircraft and the two missing pilots, except that it said it was still searching.
However, it became clear from the latest video released by the leader of the Boko Haram sect that they actually shot it down.
They displayed wreckage of the jet in the new video released by the sect, where a man apparently believed to be one of the pilots was also beheaded.
