PHOTOS: Soldiers In Lagos Burn BRT Buses, Beat Up BRT Workers
A group of soldiers on Friday unleashed mayhem in the Palmgroove area of Nigeria’s commercial city, Lagos leaving many workers of the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) belonging to the state government seriously beating and held thousands of road users to ransom in protest of injuries to a fellow soldier who was hit by the driver of a Bus Rapid Transit (bus).
The incident which occurred in the money started after a soldier riding a motorcycle was knocked down by the DRT bus.
Despite plea by the driver and other persons around, the injured soldier refused to heed the plea. Rather, someone put a call through to the nearest barrack and minutes after the call, soldiers in their dozens arrived at the scene and began vandalising all BRT buses on sight.
In the process, no less than seven BRT buses were vandalized and or set on fire, while the staffs of the company were severely beating.
